I just started uploading to Fotolia recently. I had changed the option when uploading for refused files to go to the free section to "no" as I do not want my images offered for free. I just noticed that it is showing "yes" again. I have no idea how long it has been switched back to "yes." How does one know if Fotolia placed a refused image in the free section?
Thank you.

You can delete them.

FT are a pain in the proverbial for doing this.
I've been caught out a few times when they reset the answer to the free question to yes and ended up having to delete the image and re-submit.
They seem to reset the answer to yes every couple of weeks so it's always worth checking before submitting.
They really ought to allow for this question to be set to yes or no in the preferences and make it a permanent preference

True story. I had files already accepted, when I noticed, that they were set to "exclusive". I deleted all files and re-submit them.
With new design you can change exclusivity without having to re-submit files. I'm not sure if that was the case with old design.

This month, I had a record in how fast I received money from payment request to paypal account.
I put payment request in the morning (1st of June) and by the evening money was already on paypal.

The same - free section was set to true when i started to process uploaded files, but in my settings i set it to false. I deleted uploaded files.

CLASSIC FT tactics. I will answer for them: "it's a bug".

I'm confused...several of the last files I had accepted into the main collection say "yes" next to the free section. Does this mean they can later transfer it to the free section? Some of these files already sold. Unless I missed it, I don't see anything about this explained in the "sell images". Could I email them and ask them to switch it to "no." I think it happened when they changed the design. Thanks for your answers.

Any chance you guys recently deleted your cookies and that triggered the reset?
-
No.
-
No for sure ~ I deleted all my cookies and internet history only the other day but the free section was still set to "No"
It seems to randomly reset after about two weeks

Yes it does appear to be a new feature you click the No and it turns to Yes.
Don't recall you could change it on the old system
About the only thing you can amend.

Fotolia should set the default to NO.. all the time.

Hi all,
FYI, out of the entire collection of images that are approved for the free section only 3 images are made available to download each week (that's 3 total, not 3 of yours). Even if you mistakenly submit an image with the free section option set to yes and find that the image is refused for the standard collection but then approved for the free section the odds of it being downloaded are pretty low.
That being said, it is important that you check the settings before you submit. If you are concerned that you have a batch of images that were submitted to the free section shoot me an email and I'll be happy to have the tech team remove them all.

Here were already published digits about free and paid. If contributor does not want to give away his images he should not waste time to check settings again and again. Everything above applied. Still.

Hi Matt, why don't you shoot the tech team an email and ask them to iron out this 'bug' instead?

Hi Mat
I had some images accepted for sale to the main collection and did not realize that they were set to "yes" for the free section. Since they were approved for sale does this mean they will not be offered for free? Is it only the refused files that have the possibility of being offered for free? Thanks for your response.
-
@BD, yes that is correct. If the images are approved for the standard collection they will not be added to the free section as one of the 3 images of the week.
Only images that are declined for the standard collection have the potential to be added to the free section.

This is all news I did not know. I thought the free section was massive and all images available all the time. Only three a week sounds better.
Not that I will be donating free images. I think there's enough free on the internet already, and don't want potential buyers trained to think they get something for nothing.
I used to donate to free image of the week on some sites, but that was only to promote my own port and end up with more sales overall if I was featured that week. Doesn't seem to work that way anymore.

For me giving for free never worked. Never any kind of positive. Resulted always in demand of more free stuff and threatens. And i don't want this "lottery" of rejections on one site to kill good sales of the same files on other sites. It is me who uploaded files and i only can decide to sell or to give away. For me absolutely no matter they speak about 3 files or mass give away, i just don't want such choice.
