What are you seeing Chode?  Does it look like the search engine is different, or did they just change the options?

Before reordering didn't work for me. I clicked "Downloads" but the images didn't sort acording to the number of downloads.

yes something is wrong with it.it only sorts images with relevance none of the other parameters work for me.(ie downloads descending  or  creation date)
and in the new order it seems that my exclusive images show up first considering many of them my early submissions I am not really happy with this now.I hope it will go back to normal.

most important for me that i had no sales since yesterday. What about you ?

I didn't notice a certain impact on sales yet but images I sold  today were among my earlier submissions as well so it has to be something to do with it.

I did one search (not my portfolio).  Except for the "infinite collection" images, they get sorted correctly using "downloads" or "views".

Now, if I got to "My Portfolio" - "See my portfolio online", and then I try to sort by anything, the resort window says "No files found".  :-\

most important for me that i had no sales since yesterday. What about you ?

A very slow month everywhere for me, and FT isn't different.  The good side is that larger sizes are not rare.

Regards,
Adelaide

Yes, Fotolia now has a 'proper' relevance sort.  Before this, the relevance sort was simply newest upload.

I did a few searches just now and the results seemed satisfactory.

Looks like more progress is being made at Fotolia.  Now if they could just change the Christmas images from the home page.....

it seems to me that with the change there  exclusive images favored more  in relevance order.I hope I am wrong.

My portfolio seem to be sorted by the less popular old ... Thanks for saying I will probably disable them to let more correct pics to show up a little ???

The eagle eyed amongst will have noticed a little addition next to the 'total images' shown in one's profile - it now has in brackets (% of exclusive images), which suggests that Fotolia is about to place some additional importance on exclusive stuff.

also I notice older images show  up first, at least that is the case within my portfolio,I might remove some of images too if things stay the same.

it seems to be back to normal now

Regarding search engine, did u notice that the sort by number of views is now gone (you can only sort by price, sales, relevance, date). Did I dream or was there also "Views" before ?

In a way, I find it fair. It used to boost pictures that were already on FT for a very long time.

I wouldn't have noticed unless I'd seen this thread - portfolio sort by "relevance" is a raves from the grave. I have to go to page 7 to get even one image from this year.

I wouldn't mind if there were a mix of old and new, and it isn't just the best sellers either (they're nohwere to be seen in the first chunk of pages). It's hard to see what possible "great idea" was behind this arrangement.

I think they might want give  a bit more exposure to less seen files by changing the order from time to time.last time when they  did  that I complained about it but that day turned out to be one  my best days there but today  I haven't   even  had a single sale.so I am not sure if doing this really is a good  idea.

LOL- I don't think there's an idea behind this. The FT search seem to fluctuate accordingly to the different bugs they have.

This happend before. this is a bug. you should all report it to support, sooner they will react.

Post by: vonkara on April 28, 2008, 15:38
I just contacted support. But at the same time it don't take Einstein to discover that when doing a search for traffic lights there's only 13 (traffic lights) showing in the first 100 files. If I was a designer and was searching for a set of traffic lights and only find pictures of cars in the night streets "hmm".

What these keywords have to do in the more relevent for that types of files?

Fotolia is a bit like Jaws.....

... you just never know when its safe to go back in the water.......

Lol, their suport is very funny I guess, I wrote a message:

Quote
Something happend today - when enter my (or anybody elses) portfolio, by relevance, images are sorted badly, no more best images at front, what happend?

and I knew they reply somrthing like this:

Quote
We are not sure we understand your request. Please describe in more detail how can we assist you.

LOL! It is like they even do not know anything about this. Thats why I told you to write them a mesage, not only me.

I just receive their respond "quite quickly" . I written about the problems whit the search engine. Explaining in details what was the general issue...

EX: When searching for traffic lights, there's only a bunch on a hundred who's really traffic lights. EX2: We can find the files under a couple of keywords and most of the rest not, independently of their order.

Finally I was having a 35 lines in 8 paragraph's text, eplaining multiples things that they might look at.

They responded that whitout a file ID they can't help me!!?

The exact reason that I didn't give them a file ID is that they will probably fix the problem only for this particular picture and then say "Good we have done our job".

They don't seem to catch that the problem is bigger than a simple file issue, each time that I take time to search one of my picture I discover that I can't tell how the designers find it. But as I categorised Fotolia as a small earner I will not take the time to explain them every single file that have an issue... I will take that time to create some lightbox on Istock :D

the problem seems to be solved now.

it is fixed, but the order is different, it is still not as it was before. it is more by sales aranged I think.
