Previously a summary of another post of mine

I had an equiry last week from someone who wanted to buy the rights to one of my photos at Fotolia it was a non exclusive photo so i had to hunt it down on the other sites (DT, Is, SS, 123, FP) and delete/request deletion and made it exclusive at FT and set a buyout price.

Just when I was thinking of asking FT did they have a black list of time wasters. The client actually paid up and bought the rights

Unlike the $500 buy the rights offer for a best seller I saw elsewhere on this site, (which was declined not surprisingly).

It a slightly lower price (more in line with DT suggested price though at FT you receive 65% of the sale).

It was a 4 mp photo of a walking path in Arran (a Scottish Isle) that had been online over year at SS, iS, FT, DT, 123rf and had never been downloaded well not sure at SS but it was less than 5 DLs if it had. It was a nice enough picture but possibly poorly keyworded as it was one of the first to be uploaded.

So that has pushed me up to rank #8 for the week I think I was about #1000 before. The best thing is the proceeds will be invested in a 5 day trip to Isle of Arran next week, I was thinking of going back there anyway.

Just thought i would share the good news just in case anyone got a similar offer, if its a poor seller it is well worth considering and deleting the other images isn't that hard.

Strangely enough it wasn't at BigStock so I didn't have to beg for an exception to their 3 month online rule.

The other thing to consider is some sites policy for deleting images that haven't been DLed. This one looked liked a lame duck then 

Congrats fintastique, yeah I had to think a little before I got it what you are talking about. A client ask him for the exclusive dl of his image at FT so in turn he deleted it from the other angencies. After he did that that guy did not dl it. Aparently finally after some days he did dl it.
Thats my understanding. However, congrats to this! 

Sorry for the first lack of clarity with the first posting

April 2006 I uploaded a photo of a "walking track on Arran" to FT, iS, DT, SS, 123 so it was not exclusive but was very much neglected by buyers.

On the 4th May 2007 I received an e-mail from a member of staff at Fotolio stating that a buyer expressed interest in buying the rights for this photo

so could I
1, delete this photo from any other sites
2, set it to being an exclusive photo at Fotolia
3, suggest a reasonable price

I did these three things, thru FT I got the message that the buyer thought the original price was too high so i reduced it by $50 then waited and waited

On Thursday 10th May 2007 the buyer paid up so now I don't own the rights anymore to that photo.

There was never any questions regarding had it been downloaded before though maybe that was the reason for the delay they were checking to see if it still for sale at the microstock agencies and if so how many DLs.

I am interested to see if it will be the usual 3-4 day wait period before i can transfer the cash or will it be longer, such as DT makes you wait a week from Extended licence sales before you can transfer that money.

It does make sense for the buyer to check if you were really selling it exclusively at FT. I have already wondered what they think about previous sales of one image they plan to buy.  Even if they see you never sold it at FT, there are many other places where you could have sold it many times.

Anyway, what are the restrictions about an exclusive photo?  In DT, if I remember it right, you could not have a similar one as non-exclusive.  It was a bit about the concept, not that specific image, isn't it?
