I have uploaded few vector files at fotolia and they were all rejected with reason:

The file contains non-vector elements
All your vectors designs must be vectorized (including fonts and textures). Vectors automatically generated from photographs are forbidden.

Background
Even if the background is white, you still must add a background layer. Objects without backgrounds will not be accepted.

Composition Problem
- curves must be designed with the curve tool
- gaps must not show between different elements (elements within the vector must form together properly)

Effects problems
Effects such as transparency and gradations must be managed with caution. Please make sure the effects you use are compatible with all vector applications.

Compatibility
To avoid compatibility problems, please save your work in the oldest format version available in your application.

Quality of the JPEG file
For AI/EPS vector files, you must include a high quality JPEG file representing the vector illustration. This JPEG file must achieve the same levels of quality that are requested for photo uploads.
----------

I cannot understand why they rejected it, as same files have been approved by other agencies and getting good sales over them.. I re-checked the files and everything is normal.
I contacted them to know the reason but this is what they are saying.
"Please note that all the files are reviewed by our selection team. Also note that the selection team is a separate department, and unfortunately we have no influence on their decision. "

Can anyone help me how do you people prepare vectors for fotolia

I only upload photos but I was astonished when a really good photo was rejected which were accepted by other agencies. It was sharp, no noise in it, not blurry....what frustrates me most is the endless list of reasons. None of them fitted that photo. I was doing just fine until about 2 weeks ago. What happened to Fotalia? Dreamstime was at least so kind to write that they don't want any more hand bags. I don't mind having a photo rejected but I want a proper reason. If they write that it is technically OK but they just don't want it that's at least acceptable.

Clearly Inspection is not managed by a woman ;-). I just try and forget rejections its a waste of energy I agree fotolia is about the least helpful as the rejections are just a list

I've been uploading at Fotolia for about 10 years now. I quit reading their rejection reasons around week 2.

We are sorry to inform you that your photograph was not accepted because a similar or identical file was already submitted to Fotolia; or because Fotolia has already received an overwhelming supply of high quality images of this nature.

Some subjects have already been covered sufficiently by contributors and are satisfactorily represented in our database.
For these subjects, new images must bring something completely new compared to the images already online in order to be accepted.

When similar photographs are submitted, we will only approve files that meet technical or aesthetic requirements, and match the selected category.

For an image series, please submit photographs that are different enough to allow different applications.
For example, the same model in different situations or with different expressions; or for illustrations, the same design must be provided with different symbols.

For similar subjects with different colours, please limit the variants to 6 colours.

If you selected the free option during the upload process, Fotolia will inform you if your photo has been integrated to into this section.

Upload 7 new last week 1 got rejected for similar where 3 were different crops of same and passed the 1 was nothing like other 6. Sometimes similar concept or too many already on FT like same will get rejection.

Fotolia have two and only TWO rejection reasons:

1. Technical issue (whatever it is in reviewer's opinion).
2. Similar image.

Reviewer have to tap one of those two buttons under each of submitted images.
This means Fotolia could not point out exact reason for technical reject: blur/noise/filters/etc, it simply does not saved anywhere. So they give you this long list, from which you can choose yourself whatever fits best :-)

Btw, they have really crappy notification emails: subscription preferences link goes nowhere, for non-english emails translation is incorrect and ugly as hell, and also you can not switch email language back to english anywhere.

But at least they sent submission status per image, unlike Alamy who send review status per batch. i.e. you, as a contributor, could be treated even worse (in comparison).

I could be treated worse? That made me smile. And there is me thinking if I should upload to Alamy. :-)
