I got a newsletter from fotolia.
From now on all vectors for nonexclusives cost only 4 credits.
4 x xs-price. But as a nonexclusiv you can't change the xs-price....
So I lost 50% from my vector income.
Great.
Maybe I delete all my vector-files at fotolia ?
I'm really thinking about it.

------------------------------

15 minutes after I got the newsletter the prices are set down.
Ok. I start to delete my files !
One after another.
I hate fotolia. Really.

Is that for everyone or just you? I haven't got the email. I can't believe they'd do that!! I got royally screwed when they shifted the goal posts on getting to emerald last time, literally just managed to pass the milestone now, if they pull this just when I feel like I've caught up I think my head may explode!!!!!!!   >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I didn't get that email?

Why on earth are agencies (FT, GR) pricing vectors cheaper than most jpegs?!

I still don't have the mail, but have realized I can price up my files to 8 credits (Emerald), but I can't just increase the vector price, I have to increase all the jpeg sizes too. So I guess they have just made all my jpegs more expensive for buyers. Seems they really didn't think too much about this before pushing the button.

If I read the mail correctly (don't do vectors myself) a vector can be priced at 4X your max. allowed credits price for an XS jpeg file. If you are emerald, can you price an XS jpeg at 3 credits and therefore 12 for a vector?

2 credits, so 8 creds max.  Not as bad as I first thought for me, but awful for anyone that isn't an emerald. Very depressing that they would do this to contributors, most of us didn't even get an email!!

Yikes. Not even a week of lead time? :S That's pretty harsh.

So. The first 10% of my illustrations are deleted.
I will think about what I will do with the rest.
A RPD at fotolia under shutterstock-RPD is not acceptable for me.

Also I hate these phrases in the newsletter:"We want to harmonise the conditions..."
What a bad joke !!!

Unlike Yaymicro, they don't give you an easy way to respond or give feedback. FT needs to get their act together. We are not their slaves.

They must be just dumb....this hurts them as well. They make less we make less = real dumb FT.....no one wins   :o  I guess we have to see if this leads to a higher volume of sales.

It's nice of these companies to firmly reinforce the decisions I made to delete my portfolio with them. It's like the gift that keeps on giving.

I will say for FT though, they were very reasonable and helpful to pay out a final balance when I closed my account.

I think fotolia is making my decision easier not to upload my vectors there.

Looking forward to the moment they "streamline the standards" for photos - at half the price of an XS, maybe? :o

This is exactly what you should always expect from FT! They just try everything they could to rip you off.
Deleted 10% of my (selling) port 2 weeks ago, now going to remove at least 20% more till the end of the month.

Had a bunch of sales in the past day or two and it appears vectors are now 5 credits.

I don't get it. It used to be 6 for me, I think? Now it's 5 for a vector. Can anyone shed some light on what the prices were before? Can anyone post the newsletter they received?

If this is true, then to hell with them.

They were all 8 credits back in the day when it was svg format, but I think if you reached a certain level you could double the price to 16. Then, they switched to eps files, and it was 4, 6, or 8 credits (depending on complexity). Although, things were rarely priced at 8. You could sneak svg files in the backdoor still and get them priced at 8. I assume they have closed this loophole with pricing everything at 5 credits now.

This topic needs some update... Did you fellow illustrators check your stats on FL last months? I've checked mine and I am not happy, but Fotolia is:
