Some contributors on the forum over on Shutterstock are saying that SS are testing a new subscription package where contributors will receive 5c per image. This is outrageous. It takes long enough to accumulate a decent amount of money with regular subscription prices. With just over 100 images on SS, I made $16.81 and it took a long time just to make that much. But 5c a photo? What a joke. The scary thing is that other stock sites might copy SS and offer their own super low subscription prices.

Or maybe you shouldn't just automatically believe whatever numbers 'some contributors' are spreading around. Shutterstock never mentioned anything about 5c a photo.

I think that comes from a table that a user drew up that was actually wrong. The new payments aren't for the bigger packages as that person assumed.

I just hope the scare acts as warning for people of what's to come if we accept IStock's 2c floor. If people keep uploading there I don't see why SS wont follow suit eventually.

Just a straight question. Has anyone ever seen an iStock 2c commission or anything from Getty saying that number is real? Or is it just a contributor reading a table and making up news?

In both cases, when I see it, on my account, I'll believe it. Not when there's an announcement of a test program, and someone makes up a table, using flawed assumptions and sends out the warnings that we are under attack and doomed.

Not until it's real and I see it. Thank You

I would gladly license some of my early work for 4 cents a piece

LOL  ;D

I would gladly remove some of the first year trash that has never sold, from my account for 25c one time payment. There's a concept, pay us to remove bad images.

They haven't starting posting those sales yet, but I have had lots of sub 10c sales in the last few months through IStock already and those are just the ones that are easily spotted in my stats software.

It was in the Istock Royalties Update that Getty sent out on October 25 2016. For non-exclusives this is the "worst case" (my words) scenario where a subs buyer downloads their whole allowance giving a Price Per File of 10c and commission to us of 2c. The flip side is that there is no upper limit to what we get when the buyer only downloads a portion of their allowance. Most buyers don't use their full allowance (Shutterstock would be out of business if they did). What we'll end up averaging for sub sales is the big question.
