In terms of the poll on right side of this forum, microstock ranks are:

No.1 -- ShutterStock
No.2 -- iStockPhoto
No.3 -- Dreamstime

Alghough I believe iStock is the No.1 in terms of revenue.

But my question is, what is the No.3 MacroStock site:

No.1 -- GettyImages (no doubt)
No.2 -- Corbis
No.3 -- Inmagine?

Anybody know the answer?

Probably either Masterfile or agefotostock.

I heard that Alamy is smaller than iStock in terms of revenue.

So what? I'm very sure that the number three macro-site is smaller in revenue than iStock, I'm just not sure what the number three macro-site is, maybe AGE. Anyway there is a huge gap between Getty and Corbis and the number three.

OK, then there's no No.3, it's interesting.

In micro world, at least there are big4 and middle tier, but in macro world, it is difficult even to find No.3.

What a industry!  Is there another industry like this which can not identify No.3?

^^^ There are certainly other industries with two leading companies. How about PC CPUs? Or PC GPUs?

yes, intel and AMD, but they are in high tech industry.

:) gather a lot of creative images could be much harder than high tech

Coca-Cola and Pepsi ?
Boeing and Airbus ?
P&G and Unilever
... etc

and there are even industries with a single leader, e.g. Walmart

(that is a useful reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companies_by_revenue)

From my sales through sub-agencies which sells through pretty all macro agencies (including Getty and Corbis) I would say for the stuff they market (commercial RF) there is no clear third place there are many (at least ten) in the same league. Inmagine is certainly not worse than Masterfile nor is Alamy or Plainpicture etc. and the gap between Getty and Corbis is shrinking IMHO.

From what I can understand masterfile is an exclusive agency, like Getty, or am I missing something? Age fotostock seems to be invite only, since I can't find a way to register as a photographer (there's just a log in screen).

Which agencies are best to sell lifestyle photos at? I'm trying to register at Inmagine, but the initial photos registration step seems to be broken...
