I was going to photograph the Eclipse but there is not much to see, because of the fecking Irish weather

Its always the same here, 200 rain days in a year. Complete overcast now. Meh !

Here in Poland it's only 73% and weather is... too good  :'(  It's full sunny day, no clouds at all! All I get (absolutely with using safety as filter ND big stopper) is white half sun on black background...
At this time I appreciate my luck in 2011 when got this: link
In last days it's my bestseller on SS  :P

You're lucky. In Gdansk it is almost like in Ireland ;). Yep, a bit darker than on a usual cloudy day but that's all.

Show it (image), not only talking!  :P Let's say, I don't believe you ;)

Ron, thank you ;)

Beppe Grillo

Here, Ukraine, like in Poland, clear sky but at the time of the eclipse I was running and I have seen nothing.

Nice photo Ariene!

Niakris

It was also very cloudy here in Varna, Bulgaria :(
I've prepared ND1000 filter for nothing.

I managed to get a little peek at the eclipse just before it ended

Ron, clean up the spots!  :P

Semmick Photo

I know, ;D  its a quick render of a snapshot. Not planning to do anything with it.

And Of course the weather clears up AFTER the eclipse is over !!!

Life! ;)

I don't even bother postprocessing mine shots from today. But it brought me some ideas for interesting session with using photos taken today  :D

Cider Apple

I managed to see it OK in Shropshire - England. Took some video's and timelapse. It went a strange bluey shadow colour although it was sunny. Reminded me of the eclipse in 1999 or whenever it was. I so want to see a 100% eclipse at some point.

Excuse the dust marks as this was a secondary camera just for fun.

fotoVoyager

Catalogue of errors for me this morning. Firstly I failed to scout a location properly and ended up in the woods with no real useful silhouette to shoot the eclipse against.

Then I set the ISO really high to shoot this image hand held with a long lens on the way:

And of course, forgot to reset it afterwards, making everything super noisy and more or less useless. Pah. My pathetic best effort:

If the only difference nowadays between amateur and professional photographers is that professional are supposed to get it right every time, then I well and truly failed that test this morning.

Ariene

Voyager, all photogs I know forget to change ISO (me too). They (we) change everything in camera, but not ISO  :P It doesn't matter if you are young amatour or 70+ y.o. experienced pro... ;)
Btw, very nice images you did, love it! (I'm not sure if this is good form to say: do image or only take photo?).

Still, very nice.

Thanks ;) The funniest thing is... that I didn't use anything! It was young photographer luck (I often miss it these days), that's it! I remember weather was not good, clouds are growing very fast when the Moment was closer... I had a lot of luck then, clouds gave me natural soft diffuser, right in the perfect moment, I catched focus on sun without watching through the viewer to not hurt my eyes, and praying to not damage camera with so much light straight into it ;) So no filters and 100% of luck...

A little luck NEVER hurts. ;)

Ireland is probably the only country you could look straight at it - where I was, just enough cloud to take away the brightness but still see the whole thing.

Red Dove

Total cloud cover in the shires - although I did notice it got colder and darker and the birds stopped singing....
.....I might have imagined that last bit or seen it in a movie though.
