Hello everybody,
please help and advice.
I have been contact through a site (later conversation moved on to skype) by a person asking me if you want to sell him photos thats were not uploaded to microstock for  for a new project of his ( in my understanding Ill keep the rights and get pay for them but he will  give them for free for exposure) and when I asked for money I was told that ill get something like 200 EU for 2000 shots (if they are high quality shots). What is your opinion on this?
P.S. Not sure if this is the right place for this topic so sorry.
Thanks.

I know nicku. :) Thank you
I have not sold him anything yet. He was asking for images that are not on microstock sites, probably the ones that are not that strong in stock therms . I guess my question was. Would you do it? I mean, you get paid for them, lousy but better than nothing still- he will give them for free.

Not a photographer, but this deal is completely insane!  :o I wouldn't even consider it for a second. 2000 high quality shots is a lot, and 200 is a ridiculous return imo..

No wonder our royalties get cut all the time if there are ppl among us willing to sell images for next to nothing. Agency owners really aren't stupid!

This would be the person already mentioned on here, contacting people with flattery, and asking them to go into this deal (sell me your non-stock photos, I love your fantastic portfolio, to give away free). It was referenced in the iStock forum and also on here.

Thank you wut, I wasnt gonna sell them, was wondering if anybody will do that. You could think that those shots will earn you nothing for not being stock material but it is indeed a low price even if you keep the rights.

Thanks ShadySue, missed that one. Dont know if its the same person. What is funny thou is that my photos are like 5% of my online portfolio, my main income comes from graphics:)

Oddly, a SM popped into my iStock inbox the other day, which I thought was weird as I've been banned since Nov and anyone who knows me is contacting me offsite. I guess they just found my 'wonderful portfolio' and wanted to make me an offer.

People have found ways to make big $ with nothing. They are going to pay for the bad images (or better yet, just steal them, as some do), put them up on a site somewhere, and rake in the dough from the advertising and whatever other scam "social media" stuff there is. This is all beginning to sound like a huge house of cards. Another mortgage crisis in the making.  >:(

I would upload the photos to alamy.  I still don't really know what's unsuitable for stock.  I had a S.O.D of an old white fence with SS this week.  It was uploaded years ago and would be rejected for LCV now but a buyer wanted it and I got $5.70.  I've had EL's from photos that I uploaded in my early years doing this that I wouldn't even think of uploading now.

It might take a while to make 200 EU with alamy but your photos will still be worth something.  You might get lucky and sell one for more than 200 EU.

10 cents an image ? if they're high quality ?

I'd personally run away from this as quick as possible.

I suppose if you could take 2000 shots randomly walking around your street  (grass, road, mailbox, dirt, drain, tree, tap, sign) and give them unprocessed jpg on a DVD without descriptions and it took you 3-4 hours then 200 euro's would be okay. (but I'm sure this isn't what he's trying to get)

But to supply a diverse collection of 2000 high quality photos ??/

Which microstocker would keep 2000 high quality shots in computer without uploading them anywhere to earn some money? 2000 quality shots will make 200 euro in few days. This must be mail from somebody who has no camera and wants to start in microstock pretending he's author.

I wish more people would educate themselves about the value of their images.

Maybe not all photos are worth big bucks but nobody of us wants to see our images eventually on a site free for download because someone paid 200 Euros for 2000.

Frankly, and that's what I would say today to someone who would offer that to me that this is an insult.

Apparently though, there must be people out there willing to "sell out" for that kind of money... Sad.

Am I the only person who takes several shots at a time, one or two of which will be submitted and the 'near misses' are kept, while discarding the rest. (And indeed everything except for real duds is burned onto DVD before I even look at them.)

Not that I want them all over the world's free wallpaper sites for 10c a whack!

By all means send emailer 2,000 high quality (aka Hi-res) images on DVD..........makes 'em much easier to copy and sell as exclusive hi-res images from professional stock photographer, rights-free for only $500.....you can't get these fantastic images anywhere else you know!!  ;D

Scam, scam, scam, scam, scam, bacon, egg and chips and scam.

Last year I had two offers in the region of a 5-figure amount in dollars, to buy my port, outright. I very kindly declined the offers. Years of hard work building up a port, etc, can not be estimated in a speedy sum of money.

Really? I'd sell out for any seven figure in a heart beat and start from scratch again.

It's my money and I need it now.

It just sounded like you would cling on to your port for any amount no matter how high  ;)
