Photographer Thomaz Farkas died this week. Born in Hungary and a naturalized Brazilian, que was one of the photographers that registered the construction and inauguration of our capital Brasia. He was a modern photographer specialized in urban scenes, a master of B&W, and also a movie and arts producer.
His father co-opened one of the most important photo stores in Brazil, Fotoptica, the first to introduce the 1h-processing in the country. After his father death, Thomaz directed Fotoptica, where he organized photo exhibitions and published Fotoptica magazine, full of photo essays, a magazine I subscribed for years.
Years ago he donated his 30k+ photos to a cultural center that is currently exhibiting some of his work. I hope they bring this to their center in Rio too.
