I have heard that 500px had some issues in relation to images being stolen etc.

But what is the real deal with them? Is it worthy adding my portfolio there? Its different from Flickr as people can buy images if I am correct.

Thanks,

I've heard that if someone buys a print, they also get a no-strings-attached download of the full size image file.

No watermark protection of your images there. I decided against it since I fear 500px will hurt my sales on the micros.

you can sell both prints and downloads, but where are the sales ? if we look at their Sales page it's the typical stuff sold on RedBubble and similar sites, mostly about wildlife, nature, landscapes and i could be wrong but i checked the page a few times and they're always the same photos so either it's not updated or they're selling nothing.

i've read that it's up to you to add a watermark but it's not appreciated by the guys writing comments to each image so they will downvote your pics and writing BS.

At first, I actually thought that you were asking if it would be worth uploading an image that was 500 pixels on the long side to the stock agencies!

I only very recently spent any time looking at 500px. I've got a tiny few images up there.

No plans on making sales through that site. It will probably just be a place I can point people to see some of my work.

Haven't really even thought about the watermark issue as my stuff doesn't tend to get stolen.

Frankly, the site is 90% for personal inspiration.
