Have you already tried the new search tool Bing, by Microsoft?

http://www.bing.com

I have just found a watermarked image of mine, from StockXpert, at BBC Radio website.  :-\

PS: I'll have nightmares tonight.  I've just found many copies of a watermarked image from LO in various sites.

I haven't really used it yet, but I love the commercials they use to advertise it.

I assume you already wrote to BBC UK? They better be paying you something for this...
They should be the last ones who couldn't afford micro images... Bummer.

i've been noticing a lot of search traffic from bing recently to cutcaster.  i like the site. not sure it will replace google but it will be a contender just based on the sheer size of msft.

I contacted StockXpert, as they may have a stronger voice on this matter (maybe it is a good reason to have Getty behind them?).

About the watermarked images from LO, I will try DT, as Achilles once said here they take action if the image is represented by them.

Neat site. I found 3 of my images in use on their first page under my most popular keywords.

So you missed the live.com attempt then?  Microsoft doing search is like Corbis doing microstock. It's just not their ballgame.

I think they're on to something this time around. A simple name change to something a little less stodgy plus a full assault marketing campaign seems to have worked. "Bing it" is catchier than "Live it" or "MSN it". The actual search doesn't seem much different than Google.

Microsoft usually never gets the first or second version of something right but they almost always eventually figure out the right formula.

BTW, anyone else notice that Yahoo's images search pretty much holds you captive to Flickr images?

Corbis > Veer > Veer Marketplace = microstock. That's a very bold statement.  ;)

After suffering from a preinstalled Vista for over a year, I finally reverted to WinXP, and that one starts to look very good now.

Like I said, they get it right eventually. Vista was actually a train wreck because of Microsoft's poor job of managing driver compliance from hardware and software vendors. The current release of Vista is fairly stable.

Try Windows 7 and I think you'll have a new appreciation for Windows.

Yep, and I stand by it. Veer is owned by Corbis, but Marketplace is being created by different people to those who created SnapVillage. From what I can tell, these people actually want it to succeed.

I have the beta but it will expire in August. Moreover, I don't like to run a beta on a production machine. That means I will have to reformat my disk (Windows never allows to "downgrade") and lose all my programs, settings, users, etc... Two-three days lost reinstalling and getting the actual versions from the Net. No thanks, XP works fine and blazing fast, compared to Vista. At the end of the day, I'm running Photoshop and not an operating system.

That's this guy, right?  Chandler Bing?

Duh dun, tsshhh. Two drink minimum folks. Don't forget to tip your wait staff.

Seriously, that's all I thought of when I heard the bing.com name.  That's the best they can come up with?

PaulieWalnuts

However goofy it is, it's working. Bing has overtaken Yahoo as #2 in traffic and have sustained this position so far. Live and MSN used to be a distant third.

I'm sure people used to wonder what the deal was with names like Ebay and Facebook before they took over.
