I'm just curious to know how common extended license sales are for editorial images. I have only had 4 extended license sales, none of which were editorial. I would say at least half of my port are editorial images. Do any of you guys get regular of fairly regular editorial El sales?

Edit: title change.

I have not yet had an extended license for an editorial image, but I've only been uploading editorial (to IS) since February, so the 40 or so editorial images I have are a small portion of my portfolio.

Thanks for your responses. So it does seem like it's pretty rare then. I think there would be very little need, as a standard license on Dreamstime for example, allows up to 500,000 copies if the use is for printed materials. I'm not sure how many publications have in excess of this figure, but I imagine most publications have less. The Guardian Newspaper for example, which is a major paper in the UK has a daily circulation of around 300,000 copies. If the agencies lowered the limits on standard licenses for editorial images, extended licenses may get a boost, at least in respect to printed materials.

I wouldn't give up on editorials though. Probably the place where you are going to get the biggest bang for the buck is Alamy or some other RM site that takes editorial.

Yeah, I'm happy enough with regular editorial sales on micros. Even editorial images on 123rf have taken off (for me). Would just be nice to get some editorial Els once in a while. I only realised about a couple of months ago that my camera is now good enough, without having to do a 48mb dance routine for Alamy, so I'm uploading there. No sales yet, but still early days.
