Hi All,

This is a great basic lesson on posing people for photography. I think that Peter Hurley has done a great job presenting it I hope you get something out of it.

Best,
Jonathan

The example pictures at the end blew my mind. Also his energy was kind of motivating.  ;)

It's a good tutorial for shooting out of shape (middle aged) men and if you're a total noob. And still they look more or less like turtles sticking their heads out of the shell. Portraits are boring and really sub standard and all he does is yell shabang! Completely useless for shooting fit, young female models.

Hi Wut,

I agree with the turtle look. This is a basic video on a very old trick that does work excellently with straight portraits. The problem that Peter has was he was showing us with to short a lens. If he had extended it to 150-200mm the head and shoulders would compress taking away the turtle look but still pulling the skin back. If the video was reshot I would use a longer focal length to truly show off what a difference a forehead push can make.

Take care,
Jonathan

thanks for sharing Jonathan.  Great tips there and I agree the change in how the model looks is very noticeable and actually something i have struggled with, with some models.  I'll be trying this out on the next shoot.

I usually get up on a small stool to get them to slightly look up, if I need to have them stretch out.
