Thanks for sharing!

Seeing you flooded cityscapes, I would suggest to extend the water behind those partialy submerged buildings, towards the horizon, for a more realistic look.

People that sell clips for 50$ 4k are the real problem for this industry, the race to the bottom starts from that....i wonder if you have the same clip on ss or as...

My results are now online as well. I ended up with just over $3000 although perhaps Canva will change their minds on earnings as it appears their reports have a mind of their own.

This shows the historical trend. October was not as good as October 2018, but a welcome pick up from the summer doldrums.

More details, as always, on my blog: https://www.backyardsilver.com/2019/11/making-money-from-stock-photos-october-2019/

I had this question while reading Alex previous month reports.

But.

We all have the right to experiment with pricing I guess.
Not ashamed to admit that i also tried low pricing to attract buyers.
Had to attract some $1,76 video sales to reconsider and set prices
to normal up to much higher that others. Plus a percentage up for being exclusive.

But low pricing by itself perhaps don't force a race to the bottom, especially in oversaturated areas

low pricing in nitche or rare subjects locations events does.

"Lesson learned"  ::)

I take your point.

I've recently let Pond5 decide my price and they've naturally placed them quite low. Time to re-examine this strategy.

However, even with such relatively low prices for 4K content, I've only had 3 puny sales in the past 3 months.

Not documented by I have this idea that (if asked to price item) they price by content. I have seen $79 suggestion for handheld HD clip on kind more rare subject.

And despite this you got only few sales..go figure...
With all respect alex, you should know how to price your work,if don't , 79/169 are the industry standard...if you sell on ss you already know it...
I'm not a fan of pricing clips based on content,it never worked for me,neither for agencies that otherwise would have a price for every kind of content..said that ,easy content to shot or clouds timelapse  are not going to sell even at pretty low price because buyers can find them on subscription, so i find quite useless shot stuff like this...
If we want to survive in this business we have to focus on create new content, playing with price doesn't help, you can't go lower than subscription sites...
Unfortunately go travelling and shooting stock doesn't pay off like before...

For me Pond5 has been very strong compared to the other "video players". I made more than double the figure of Shutterstock. Adobe ok Shutterstock very low Videohive low and Istock images )no video at Istock= is slowly recovering from the summer but decaying as I nearly don't submit anything there anymore.

About bulk changing prices, I had this response today from P5 CS:

Quote
You can use a CSV file to change pricing and other information in bulk. Please, check the instructions about how to work with our CSV files in this page: https://contributor.pond5.com/getting-started/preparing-your-files/

Inside the CSV file, you can use the column "price" to set the price of the original version of the clip, which would be the 4K version if the video was uploaded with that resolution.
After that, you can create another column called "pricelarge" to put there the price of the HD version of each clip.

If you need assistance to upload a CSV file that you have edited, please send it to us attached to an email and we'll be happy to check that everything is fine and to upload it to your Pond5 account.

you can do it even on the upload page selecting all the clips you need to change price and then at the bottom of the page under drop down menu you will find set price...

My October Earnings Report

In truth I stopped watching, I look, I collect, I move on. I used to have spread sheets, I started with by image, uploaded, a column for each agency, earnings totals and I found that, different agencies attract different buyers. So say a best seller at SS wouldn't be a best seller at FT. And after all these years, the best selling for mine on AS are not best selling anywhere else. SS won't even take them. IS will, but they don't sell the same images, and IS won't take what sells best for me on SS and Alamy.

I thought that knowing the best images, would help me know what to make more of and what to upload all over. It just told me, what was best at each agency. Which is good to know, but once that's over, no reason to keep complex data, I have my answers.
