Dang... I didn't realize how hard it is to find stuff on most microstock sites...

I need an image of an old world map, something that looks like it's from the 1800's or very early 1900's.  I've been wading through all kinds of (in my opinion) unrelated items to try and find what I need for a couple hours now with no luck so far on DT, IS, FT or SS.

I've actually had better luck using Google images, but I can't find the author of the image so that I can get a legal license.

I gotta wonder about the frustrations of people who buy on a regular basis...

Try "old world map" on IS set to best match.

For work recently I need a picture of a young woman suitable for a banner image across the top of a skincare related page..

Try searching for 'young woman' and see how much junk you get....

try wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Old_maps_of_the_world
and wikipedia commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Old_maps (also has an atlas section on this link)

I think that one is more like c1600. Australia and New Zealand have yet to be discovered.

The results of "one young woman only" sorted by best match aren't bad on iStock. If you want something more specific, you can 'search within', though sometimes that gets hairy.   >:(

We were using shutterstock (Don't have an account on istock at work...)

We eventually found a really nice shot, but it took ages...  istock's search is a bit better, I just tried searching for the type of thing we wanted on istock and I think their search tool would have narrowed it down a lot quicker.  Funnily enough trying to find the image we did purchase in the end on SS is quite hard a well.  Hmmm, might get an istock account at work...  :)

I'd not been a customer of microstock regularly until I started my current job about a year ago.  It's given me a whole new respect for correct keywording of images.  Some things really do take on a needle in a haystack proportions.  Although I have the advantage of being able to shoot anything I can't find myself I suppose, which many customers wouldn't have.

Searched on world map 1800s.

Thanks, that's much closer to what I need.  I need something I can print and make my own globe with.

This is why I argue that agencies are really selling search engines and databases for images, and its why IS is on top and the rest are not.
