..mmm..got boring in the last two years in the Microstock landscape ;-) The last newcomers who really made it had been Photodune, Deposit, Stocksy....not counting for now 500px since they have to still prove success and sales.

Wouldn`t it be great to have a new Startup starting out to shake everything a bit up?
Maybe a already powerful company who decides to invest in the market and pays the contributors for uploading like Veer and DP in the old days? A Stocksy clone who manages to incorporate all of us Contributors who where not selected to be part of the very special Stocksy paradigm? A very well manage boutique Agency who makes success happen?

What do you think?

I don't think that Microstock landscape change can be made by some new start-up company starting from the bottom.

Some major player [like Google] entering the market and changing rules/concept - can.

So you need big money to invest and really fresh approach.

the 90% to the contributor or allowing out-of-focus-over-filtered images will not make you a new Microstock place  to go

I don't think that is true. I'm always on the look out for some small but good selling agencies. They don't have to make an impact on the market to make an impact on my wallet.

what do you think about Symbiostock.com?

As far as I remember the developer, Leo, abandoned the Project. This makes it very questionable if its worth to get into it. (Correct me here if I`m wrong) Furthermore Symbiostock is a community project, not a single Agency. But in general, yes, I would love to see some great code coming up which makes it possible to get a photographer driven market online. I just don`t think it will be symbiostock.

There's lots of "start ups", like Stockbo, for instance.  Just no really important ones.

That would be fun, wouldn`t it? Google or any other big player throwing a couple of millions into a new site and breaking up the "Big 4" paradigm...how would the established players react? I would love to have a new site there which actually is worth it to upload to...

Never heard of them...lol. I may upload to them just because I want to help any site which offers 50% or more, regardless of actual sales...

I  don't know a way to check if small agency is good seller except uploading my work to many small agencies and watch them. Very time consuming and not effective so I tend to ignore them.

Just to add some information: Leo didn't really abbonden the project. At the moment he is focusing on other (paid) jobs, but in the background he is working on a second version of Symbiostock.
Meanwhile the current version of Symbiostock is used by 185 photographers and illustrators ... they can be found here: www.symbiostock.info

I really love Macrografiks and really hope they will eventually take off. Their website and collections is beautiful. They are going to include all subjects, no only macro stuff. I hope this going to improve their sales.

Its not abandoned, he is still involved, and still releasing updates. He is also working on a complex VAT plugin for Symbiostock. He is just no longer active on the foreground.

Good news! This VAT tool for professionals and a good working CO-OP Agency for Symbio - beginners is another milstone on the way to let some greedy CEO cry.

Yeah, uploading to them is the only way to check. At the same time over 50% of my stock income comes from a few small sites, so they can be worth it too.

Sounds good! I will check em out... I think we always have to keep uploading to newcomers with fair conditions. ..
