I have an old copy of corel draw installed (ver 11) and have been playing with a few vecotr's. I enjoy learning new skills and would oike to upload for stock (a great way to get motivated and the harsh requirements make you learn).

I did something but when I converted to AI using a guide I found on the web it looked shocking compared to the original.

Does anyone else use coreldraw (succesfully) for their stock vectors?

Hi Spooner,
i use corel although i'm not submitting vectors but i made a couple and what i did was i saved from corel as illustrator format and the opened in illustrator to save as eps. Maybe you can also do the same with some freeware vector soft - you cant save the eps they want for stock directly from corel.
Hope this helps.

Sorry to stray here but this just reminded me - it's about Corel Draw, I rec'd a .cdr file from a client today, is there anyway I can open it in one of my CS5 suite software?

you should save it as *.eps file? i always think .eps file is a general format that recognise by different kind of vector software, kind of standards.

and usually the reason save as eps v8 in adobe illustrator is to be compatible in coreldraw software.

I think CS5 can only open old versions of .cdr (up to v. 10 or so)

You can download a 30 day fully functional Corel X5 trial from here:
http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod3670089
(For Windows XP, Vista or 7, there's not a Mac Version)

Or feel free to pm me... I have Corel X5 and can convert it for you.

Thanks for the offer MSP.  They sent me a JPEG so I'll make a clipping mask.

I always use CorelDraw to build my vectors, lots easier.. when I'm done, I export them to AI (v8). Sure the color wouldn't really match the original CDR (different color engine)... so I sometimes redo the color in Illustrator. The final output will be EPS8 exported from AI. A bit of a hassle.. but it suits me just fine, being more comfortable working in Corel  :-\
