Does anyone have a mouse they really like? Not the little furry kind, but a computer mouse. My new iMac came with a Magic Mouse. I really like it (especially the multi-touch stuff), but it eats batteries, so I probably should replace it with something corded.

This mouse has been great for me, I love it. Comes with a usb cord to recharge when it gets low, and the battery charge lasts a really long time. It's a bit pricey but it was worth it for me.

Yep, mouse is the one most underestimated factor in workflow, in fact it's so underestimated, almost nobody even thinks of it - real photoshop fulltime pros do tho. I used to be a serious gamer, tournaments and all back in quakeworld, so when I re-dsicovered quake live, I also bought me a steelseries xai... I cut thru my photoshopping almost twice as fast with it. No misses with the tools. All the computer branded mouses that most people get feel like unhandleable junk in comparison.

Second the Logitec Performance Mouse MX.  It's very comfortable, has a thumb switch that changes mouse pointer response (good for PS work) and the center wheel "hyperscroll" function is amazing!  it's like a skateboard ball bearing, and once you get used to it you can go from end to end of long documents in a hurry.

and also the mouse mat has a huge impact on performance

I used the plastic type for years, then I switched to the fabric kind and it's quite better (more precise) with an optical mouse in my opinion

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to take a look at those. Although, I probably won't be doing much gaming. My mouse spends most of its time in Illustrator or surfing.

esport mice are the best ever built for anything. after a year using the xai, using the regular ms or logitech simply on a desktop felt like guiding a very drunk fat person by the shoulder. they don't track 50% of the time just most ppl have nothing to compare it to.

This, it's a dream: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/mice/devices/laser-mouse-g9x

Also the Razer mice are brilliant. Make sure you get a really good pad though, otherwise it won't make much difference.

Have you considered Mobee Magic Charger for Magic Mouse?  http://store.apple.com/us/product/H4825ZM/A   (site doesn't work at the moment)
I didn't like Magic Mouse at all. It really wasn't love at first touch but now I'm so used to it that I have problems to work with another mouse when I have no batteries left in drawer.

I'm still a big fan of the Microsoft Intelli mouse though probably dated. But works great for  me on all my computers for years.

I know this seems like a silly question, but why do people like mice (mouses  :D )?

I've been using a trackball for decades, and just hate mice. I do all my PS editing with my trackball, and have no problems controlling it very precisely. And I don't have to move my hand all over the desk to do so. It just sits in one spot, stationary.

I've absolutely never understood why just about everyone prefers a mouse to a trackball, when to me the latter seems so much better.

What am I missing?

Cool! Thanks.

I had some problems with the magic mouse too when I first got it. The side scrolling was weird. Now, I like the side scrolling. It's convenient not to have to use the Hand tool anymore to move around the artboard in Illustrator.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up buying the Mobee Charger for my mouse. It seems to work pretty well so far.

I'm going to give this one a try. I really like the set of weights that comes with it to fine-tune the weight of the mouse. That's the big issue I've always had with mice, some are too heavy and some are too light.

I just ordered it last night. We'll see how it goes. :)

"All over the desk" seems a bit exaggerated to me: I can move from left to right of screen in less than 3" of mouse movement.

I tried both trackball and graphics tabled and still find mouse the best option, I guess it's up to each of us to choose what we like the best.

Same here. Wouldn't want to do serious work with a mouse.

I'm using the G9X (which I mentioned buying earlier in this thread, under my old username helix7). It's easily the best mouse I've ever owned.

It's not a mouse, but I recently got a Bamboo Touch and Pen and it helped eliminate a lot of the repetitive strain I was feeling with even a good ergonomic mouse.

Logitech's gaming devices are really great. Very tough and precise. The one I'm using came with a bunch of weights to customize the whole 'feel' and balance of the device. Couple of customizable buttons, two extra buttons for a quick change of the device's precision. I'm really satisfied with it.

I also have a Wacom tablet which came with a mouse, but I rarely use it. The only good thing is that it's battery-less and cord-less at the same time.
