Just clicked onto one of my images today that was only uploaded as a vector file and see that the customer is now being given the option to download as a JPG as well.

Interesting. I wonder if they plan to do that with existing files or just new ones. Do you have a link to your file I couldn't find one that had that?

I always suspected they never offered this option because it gave them an advantage in bragging rights about how many images they have. And for that reason I doubt they'll completely get rid of the solo jpg files any time soon. It would mean a huge dip in the total number of images they have.

But, it's still nice to see the integration of jpg and vector options on one file. I think this is something SS really needs to continue working on, giving buyers more options and flexibility with vector purchases. And I still think they have a long way to go to catch up to what other companies are offering, especially in terms of editable text in vectors, alternative formats like AI, PSD, etc.

Have they made an announcement? If not, you may be part of the test audience.

According to them they're still in the early stages of the test, so it looks like you're in the test group (as am I).

Looks like they're just using the jpg preview uploaded with the vector as the jpg file version. Which is fine, except that not everyone uploads high-res previews with vectors. Mine are typically around 2400x2400, but some older ones are far smaller.

Guess I'll have to get into the habit of uploading larger previews.

I saw this with my vectors the whole of last week. It then disappeared for a couple of days earlier this week and is back again.

They said they'll make a formal announcement with specs, etc. if the test works out. Not sure how they'd handle older, smaller jpg previews. I always output mine large because I got in the habit when I submitted to Veer.

Because SS allows you to upload a jpg file separate from the vector, I use the opportunity to add more effects that might lead to rasterization if used in the vector. Since I use Inkscape for my vectors, there is not a lot of effects that I can safely use on my vectors. So, I try to give the jpg some additional effects.
