You can also report infringing sites that use Google Adsense to display ads and earn revenue from their site. The Adsense site has a page where you can
report a site that violates their terms, which include terms about not using Adsense on any site that violates copyrights.
Similarly, you can do the same for sites that use BuySellAds. Those typically appear as a group of small square ads on a site. When you click one of them, you can briefly see the BuySellAds URL in your browser address bar to know that the site uses BSA. Report them to BSA and they will have their account terminated. I've done it, it works.
Lately I've been skipping straight to DMCA notices sent to website hosting companies to get sites suspended or shut down. That seems to work pretty well also. Some hosting companies don't immediately suspend sites, and try to mediate the situation through contacting the site owner first, but some do immediately suspend site hosting accounts. In either case, it's been helpful for removing my work from pirate sites and goes a step further towards getting some of these sites shut down.
HeroTurko is the elusive one. They move the site a lot, they use hosts that don't care about DMCA, etc. But at least this helps stop some of the HT wannabes that crop up and try using HT content and links to create their own illegal content distribution sites and earn ad revenue from them.
