I think that it is a truly remarkable photo.  Timeless too.  This is one of those photos that your grandchildren will get royalties from long after you are gone.  Everytime I see a photo of a penguin now, I think freezingpictures!

No doubt the shadows are deliberate.  Symmetrical.
