Where do you advertise to get referrals?

In my signature here and I posted on a design forum a few times.  I have a link in my blog but never seem to get anything from that.

Nowhere really. I used to have a site but was too much of a pain to keep it updated. Only got 1 good referral from it. $300+ from him so far on SS.

Sites targeted to buyers with good content are probably good.

The rest, especially when loaded with content (if any) of doubtful quality, usually one-sided or totally misleading are just that - doubtful and misleading.

The sites that have it should really discontinue their contributors part of referral programs. And when doing that, they could raise their commission payed to owners of the content to account for the savings they would have for payed out referrals.

+1 - and we would get rid of all the pimping, spamming, yelling and big annoying badges too. Contributor-referring is taken away from our income. I want to be my own referrer. Buyer referring is totally different. A prime example is the blog of sjlocke that is a buyer's guide. We don't need more competitors, we need more buyers.

I try to help anyone who signs under me as a referral as much as I can.
