I just learned of an interesting stat on the Shutterstock Earnings/Payout report.  It gives info on how much you made from images sold in the USA and how much was made elsewhere.  I was quite surprised to learn that only one-third of my earnings are from the US.  I wish they would break it down even further.  Reminds me a bit of the old Fotolia when buyers location was listed with each sale.

Yes, it's interesting, and I was surprised as well - my proportion is roughly the same

but they are giving separate US / rest of the world data only for tax obligations, and I'm afraid they will never break it down further unless absolutely required: buyers' location is sensitive business data to keep hidden from the competition

(Panthermedia is the only site I am aware that still tells the name of buyers - but their buyers are almost entirely from Germany)

I guess this info must be available only to contributors outside the US...

My percentages are about the same.
However, I'm surprised the us percentage is so high, not so low. After all, the US population counts for 4.59% of the world population.

But a huge proportion of the world's population will know nothing about buying images from Shutterstock*, and more still would never dream of it.
* or anywhere else.

The majority of my sales are still from outside of the U.S. on Shutterstock. Recent payouts in the last year were as high as 75% outside of the United States although my most recent payout was around 54% outside of the US. This was on a portfolio of just over 900 images.

Lol, I don't care where the sales come from, so long as they keep coming. However, it's astonishing that figures for the US are so low.

i find that during months with el sales, the us buyers account for 60% (rather than the usual 20%). either there are more us buyers of ELs or the non US buyers are using images w/o an EL.
