Lately I thought a lot about creating my own homepage. Since I have no clue how to do the programming I ask my brother to do it. However he has no time so I did some research. Somewhere I found a link directing me to www.googlepages.com. I was amazed. I did not know to do a homepage is so easy. I can recommend googlepages to everyone who has not his own photography website and does not know a lot about programming. Here it is, if you have any comments and suggestions feel free..
It is not finished, but I am working on it..

By the way googlepages is free.

CJPhoto

Very nice.

i have just started looking at google pages as well now that my blog is up and running well.

You may want to consider "Freewebs"...Google i tried it but not very intuitive but the look is clean and free from clutter....so thats the good thing.

It's even easier to set up a website here.....also allows you to change the look and feel of the skin as you wish......

digiology

Looks good! Being free I am surprised there is no advertising.

Time to kick my but I guess  ;)

leaf

looks good.

Of course I include the link to this forum :). I have dpreview and fredmiranda.com/reviews added to the link section. Anymore which are a must for photography websites?

leaf

dpchallenge perhaps.  That is a fav. of mine.

Thanks Freezing,

Have just started on a page. Have tried Freewebs before but pages can be slow to load.

Google looks fairly straightforward.

Freezingpictures

@takestock, great maybe you can show as you site too, when you are done :)
Here is a guy who wrote some tutorials how to do stuff on googelpages, like adding a counter, guestbook,etc..: http://jvanbaelen.googlepages.com/home.htm

Thanks for all the good information from everyone!  That's why I keep coming back to this site!  ;D

takestock

Hi again Freezing,

Thanks Again

Freezingpictures

You have got a really nice background, I like the design..

berryspun

Great links, thanks!
I'm currently playing with the Google page  :)

takestock

Well done Berry, nice one!

It's simple is'nt it!

berryspun

Thanks takeshot, it was fun to create a style.  I like the one you have chosen too, the vibrant red door invites us to come in.  And the white background of Freezing is very appropriate too.

Yes, their program is quite simple to use, with just a few basic features available.  With Google's reputation, I already see this new area booming in the months to come.

Freezing, thanks again  for posting the GooglePages link.

Mellimage

Well looking at all your nice googlepages I will definitely checking it out too, especially since I am already planning my website. For now however, my photoblog will have to suffice.

http://mellimage.blogspot.com/ (still working on that one)

Hey Freezing, thanks for the link.  :D

Basically spent the day creating a page promoting only myself--no links to helpful sites, just featurepics because they give the most back to the contributers. Just a backgrounder or resume sort of thing. See it if you like.

after seeing all those great pics, I can honestly say I am a better website builder than a photographer.

But photography gives me more fun, and building websites is a great way to go broke ... at least i have found.

takestock

Pelmof,

Really nice page- won't do you any harm!!

Well done.

digiology

OK...here's my feeble attempt...easy but still a work in progress

TIP: I made the mini thumbnail gallery from a screen capture of my pending uploads at LO. I have always liked how the square crop makes the images more intriging. Try it if you have a variety of pending shots. You can resize the browser window to make them stack up differently.

berryspun

Don't forget to use the referral links available for each site  :)

Digi - I agree that screen capture looks good and is a lot easier than putting them together in photoshop.

Further to Berryspuns hint, why not put all your photos on a separate page.  Sounds difficult but featurepics gives you the script to do so - My website is still a very rough draft but  it will look like this.

digiology

Looking Good CJ. More food for thought.

I am not on Featurepics though. Any other sites that offer the same kind of script?

CJPhoto

Not that offer the script though I am sure a pro could figure it out.

I am also investigating another option at the moment which I will get back to you all on if it works out.
