Dollars or downloads?  ;D

Am I the only one who thought "Austin Powers" for the subject of this?

What does this mean? It's Yuri's total: Downloads: >1.2E+6

Did his download number break their code or somthing?

Jo Ann Snover

exponential notation which I guess they thought was simpler :)

1.2 times 10 to the 6th power, or 1.2 million

His performance is out of this world - it's as simple as that.

Which is a play on the Spy Show "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan who was always asking who is #1 and who does #2 work for. Still a classic. One of my favorites of all time.

"In the face of McGoohan's intention to quit Danger Man  (Secret Agent Man in the US) Grade asked if he would at least work on "something" for him. McGoohan gave him a run-down of what would later be called a miniseries about a secret agent who resigns suddenly and wakes up to find himself in a prison disguised as a holiday resort. Grade asked for a budget, McGoohan had one ready, and they made a deal over a handshake early on a Saturday morning to produce The Prisoner." Wikipedia

It was truly a sad day at IStock HQ the day Yuri flew by their poster girl and Exclusive contributor Lise, I wonder if they have a day of mourning every year to commemorate that sad occasion, with a fraction of Yuri's portfolio no less... LOL

.
Having met the very humble and talented Lise in London she would no doubt be the first to congratulate Yuri. She also does not have a team working on her behalf.

For anyone to have achieved those numbers is amazing - but to have achieved what she has single-handedly is truly outstanding.  Likewise Sean Locke.

What does 'BaseContributors' mean?

ETA:  I'm surprised that the percentage of exclusives is so small.

Not Bronze or above. Or with people like me, No Canister. ;) Under 300 DLs

No data for some years but for interest sake, 2008, contributors in the database (we don't know how complete it was, I figure it's pretty good now showing about 95%) 13742 nothing about exclusives. Nov. 2009 15002 total, 7457 base = 50%. 2010 Sept. Exclusives 5534, 18%, 30,571 contributors. Jan 2011 exclusive 5874 (note increased) total 36782. Today - exclusive 5592 (dropping) total 37084 contributors.

There are also requirements for going exclusive and it appears that as more people make the level needed some are choosing to go exclusive, some people are dropping because of the commission change.

Don't let the percentage fool you, raw numbers are increasing. In the same time that exclusives have gone from 5534 2010 to 5460 -74 in March 2011 to 5592 now, base contributors have gone from 30,571 to 37,084 in the same period. Some exclusives did reject the new terms or decided that diversity was a better plan.

Base level contributors have gone from 50% to 60% in two years.
Black Diamonds went from 10 in 2009 to 43 now. Cool!

What all this says. I don't know for sure, but it's fun to watch? :D

Shows how much I pay attention sometimes. Sorry.
But none of the above is correct: March 2010 they changed to this.

Base: 1 – 499
Bronze: 500 – 4,999
Silver: 5,000 – 19,999
Gold: 20,000 – 49,999
Diamond: 50,000 – 399,999
Black Diamond: 400,000 +

Bronze is automatic, Exclusive is by application.

Freedom

Nope, they didn't implement the new levels. I know someone just turned bronze exclusive after getting 250 DLs with more 50% acceptance rate.

Small wonder I'm confused. The IS announcement says 500, but Grandfathered levels for existing people.

Now I found it:

iStock artists who contribute photos.

Base Base: 1-249 downloads

Bronze Bronze: 250-2,499 downloads

Silver Silver: 2,500-9,999 downloads

Gold Gold: 10,000-24,999 downloads

Diamond Diamond: 25,000-200,000 downloads

Black Diamond Black Diamond: 200,000 + downloads
