I really like Blackadder, but maybe it's a bit too 'British' for American tastes.
There was an interesting programme over the Christmas period documenting the development of the series from an untidy series on to a highly polished Goodbyeee final episode in series 4. Great to see Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry looking about 22 in early script runthroughs.

I loved seeing Miranda Richardson, normally a serious actress, having such a blast as the capricious Queenie in series 2.
Series 4 was a great satire on the folly of war.

For those unfamiliar with the series, it was a Beeb sitcom of the 1980s, whos premise is explained on Wikipedia:
"Although each series is set in a different era, all follow the fortunes (or rather, misfortunes) of Edmund Blackadder (played by Atkinson), who in each is a member of a British family dynasty present at many significant periods and places in British history. It is implied in each series that the Blackadder character is a descendant of the previous one, although it is never mentioned how any of the Blackadders manage to father children.

Although the character is quite unintelligent in the first series, he is increasingly clever and perceptive in subsequent generations (while decreasing in social status). Each Blackadder though is a cynical, cowardly opportunist concerned with maintaining and increasing his own status and fortunes, regardless of his surroundings.

The life of each of the Blackadders is also entwined with their servant, all from the Baldrick family line (played by Tony Robinson). No sales today, up until yesterday I had exactly 1 a day for 3 days. I hope IS dies quickly and efficiently, like if someone pulled the plug on a pacient who's been in a coma for years. It'd just like to not be bothered by IS anymore, since checking my stats lately offers very disturbing images (I can't help myself, I can not not check them). Though lost sales are transferred to SS in the form of ODs and SODs, I'd also like to see them transferred to a site paying 50% and also setting the price high enough for those 50% to mean anything (to bring more dough than ODs for example, I can't imagine getting more then I get for SODs)

I'm angry at myself for caring. Yes that sure is an option, for now I'll just try to forget about them. I'll check on the stats at the end of the month and start thinking about pulling my port then. If PP earnings weren't getting me almost the same earnings, I'd probably already do it, but with PP they're still my #2 earner

With Fry and Laurie? Critics generally didn't think it held up to the Iain Carmichael/Dennis Price version, but I liked it.

Literally 90% of my sales over the last couple of days have been P+ despite them being less than 15% of my port (although obviously they are the best selling images). It just strikes me as an unusal pattern although it could just be coincidence.

ROFL!  Really great summation!  I love Hugh Laurie but never saw what the big attraction is with House.   Pretty formulaic, not to mention that if you have ever been seriously ill it's pretty hard to listen to the way he deals with his patients.  

Thanks for the explanations of Blackadder too.  My hubby loves Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean, so maybe I should rent some of the Blackadders to see if he likes them.  Love the bit about Baldrick's trousers!!  Although I really don't think you are a vessel for all the evils of the world.  Maybe a few of them though.

Me neither. I might give Blackadder a try, too. I watch House, but definitely formulaic. In fact, it's getting quite boring.
