I have just submitet my first 10 images to SS, first time, and they accepted 8 out of 10! Whopie!   And I didnt even pick my best images, I picked 10 images from my last few sets.

Any advices for newbie on SS?

They're obssesive about noise so make sure your images aren't noisy.
Upload a few at a time and wait until they are reviewed before unloading next batch.  New uploads bring more attention to your portfolio so you do better if you are constantly uploading rather than putting your whole portfolio up at the beginning.
BTW congratulations on getting in on your first try.  Reading the forums it seems that most people don't.

Tnx! Yeah, those 2 rejected images were rejected because of the noise and oversharpening. (what noise, I do not see nothing! lol, but nevermind....).

If you picked 10 middle of the road images and got accepted on your first try, then you don' t need my advice. You got any advice for me?

Sweet! My first sale on SS! And I have only 4 images there.... nice. But I dont like 0.25$ per image. That's low. On fotolia I get much more per image.

Chode, after a few more days at SS you'll be wondering why the pay at Fotolia is so LOW!

I agree - the pics MOVE there.  I just started with SS as well, and after 2 weeks I already have 111 downloads on a portfolio of 16 images.   In contrast I have only 1 sale at IS and 3 sales at DT in the same time frame.

BTW, since I joined, I earned 80 bucks. Sweeet....  I already like this site! Hope will earn at least 300$ in november... + Fotolia as usual, I can take a vacation on Hawaii almost! Lol! Just joking!

Go to the front page of the buyer side of shutterstock (www.shutterstock.com).  At the bottom they have 4 or 5 lightboxes that they feature images in each month.   I am new at SS too, but I have read on their forums that getting an image in one of those lightboxes can really help your sales for that month.

Never been to Hawaii, but from what I hear $300 will likely buy you a warm ice cream and a stale sandwich.....

and about that featured lightbox... what one should do to get featured lightbox? is there I can do, or not?
