Another Massive Best Match Shift

Something must have changed because my sales have improved greatly. If this keeps up, March may end up topping my previous BME, which was over a year ago. I'm just a small fry exclusive though, but I rarely upload new stuff so any increase isn't a result of that. (and none of my newer files sell anyway, sadly)

This could be interesting, i think March could turn out badly which would mean a sharp decline from February's increase. If that is the case then i can see a lot complaints heading istock's way.

I've actually had quite a good start to the month at IS (relative to their performance over the last few months anyway). IS even appear to be slowly strengthening within the greater market too. For me they've crept up from less than 23% of total earnings in December to over 27% so far this month. I'm on target to be 'only' about 15% down on last March at IS which is something of a triumph when compared to previous months.

Congrats, maybe i was wrong then. I am primarily a non-exclusive videographer and unfortunately the good old days have truly passed for us it would appear. My sales used to be really strong but since the begining of 2011 there was a constant downward trend month after month. I hit rock bottom Dec 2011/Jan 2012 but then it picked up slightly in Feb which looked like a good sign, but March looks like its going to bomb.

I believe the best match still favours older files but this time those which has more DL's  ,at least this is what I noticed. But my sales still suffers since the new year:(((

Phadrea

March is terrible for me. Absolutely dire !!!

CarlssonInc

Trending at about 1/3 of March 2011 in both $ and dls

Freedom

Don't know if it has anything to do best match, but today is terrible. Otherwise, March has been stable.

March? = Brutal so far.
-but I'm an illustrator and sometimes that makes a difference in the best match shake.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

pohreen

I never bother looking at best match any more because it always seems to give me stuff that really isn't "best match" at all.  I always change to "Downloads," then I usually get what I'm looking for.

wut

The last couple of days are weak.

Zerkalo

March has been very weak so far. It's very surprising actually. The problem seems like there is not much traffic, less views, etc.

Has there been another best match change? I'm mostly seeing files with low total number of DLs being DLed, mostly old ones (well none of mine are older than 2 years), to put it bluntly bad photos/non-sellers. Here are my last 10 DLs (that's max for my screen resolution):

There have been two best match changes this week that I've noticed.
But still, differences between searches: some favour high selling files, some new, some who knows?
And some contributors seem to get preferential treatment, for weeks or months on end, and it isn't always the clique you might expect.
Many more indy images in the top of searches, undercutting exclusives.

NOT a propos of the above:
'Ed' now has 122486 files, which contrary to what we were promised, still seem to get long term preferential treatment, even when they don't sell (whereas one I had accepted on Saturday and sold on Wednesday has dropped to position 127, photos only, on its main search term)
Ed2 has 145.

Yep, Indy files are dominant and IS,  they are desperatly clinging to newcomers,  the reason is obvious, they have lost so many exclusives its starting to hurt and the poor exclusives remaining,  well they are making a last stand. What else can they do?

I haven't experienced more sales, just different, weird. I hope this indy best match push doubles my sales. So I can finally pull out at least 40-50% of the earnings I get at SS (excluding PP)

Likewise.  I am not seeing any sales boost.  Sales for me at Istock are on life support.

Not at the moment, thanks. I'm still not saying never; but ATM I'd rather focus on Alamy if iStock goes pear-shaped. I don't have the sort of port that would do well on SS.
Also since Jan - Mar were good for me (it's all relative) it would be daft to jump on one poor month. Besides, I had a nice sale from Getty counting as March, but came through this week, and that's an opportunity I'd lose, even though extremely limited.

I was just teasing you. I understand your situation completely ;)

Mr. Stock

April 2012 istock has tanked for me, worst month since April of 2005, and I started uploading to istock in January of 2005. I have 1600 images with istock, There used to be 500 dollar months for me with this company, and now I have earned 38 bucks this month. Ouch.

But you're not exclusive, right? Have you been uploading in the last year at all?
