Hi there!

I´m just wondering if it´s allowed for the same person to have two accounts at the same time, one for pictures shared with the other stock sites, and the other one exclusive for istockphoto, with different email addresses but the same paypal account.

Nothing more, thanks for the help  :D

sharpshot

No, that is not allowed but I do wonder if some people try it.

Not that I'm giving hints out here or anything since I don't do it, BUT, you cannot have two different email address with one paypal account.  I tried (for other reasons).  That's why my different personalites each have their own email, bank , ebay and paypal account.  One for the photos and one for everything else in life.

The biggest problem I can forsee if you are trying to be two people at the same agency is that when receiving payout from the agency.  Then whichever one you are trying to be exclusive at will see the same personal ID and tax information twice.

Now for the real reason not to.  Exclusivity is a CONTRACT.  Once you accept it you are legally, morally and ethically bound to it.  Your question about how to try and game the system may have already put the agency people who cruise these boards looking into your account.
Remember, if you are planning to commit a crime, tell no one, not even your best friend.  Then when you change your mind no one will think less of you for having even considered it.

But I thought exclusivity contract was only for the work published in the exclusivity account, so I supposed there was not any conflict if I had another non-exclusive account with different work...exclusivity ties the work published as exclusive, not the photographer, isn´t it?

Sorry for my poor English   ???

Nope, you're wrong. istockphoto demands exclusivity per photographer, not per photo, with a few exceptions like RM work, prints etc. It's all in their Exclusive Artist's Supply Agreement.

Actually, you can have more than one email address for one paypal account. I had someone pay me to my email address rather than my paypal address, so I had to find out. There is a link where you can add email addresses to the account.

Now I understand it all. I was wrong with the exclusivity concept.

Thanks all for your help  :)

Exclusivity in IS is very clear.  Now, if someone is cheating the system, it's another thing...

It could be however two people, like a couple, who share the same PP or MB account.  Then it would be ok, and it's possibly the case.  If you are doing something so clearly against the rules, why use the same email account?  That's the easiest thing to duplicate.  The ID would be more of a problem.

I have two accounts in FP, one for my general stock images, one for my travel images which I set mostly as RM.  FP knows that.  But in this case, as FP's login is the email address, I use two different addresses, but the same MB account.

It would be very easy to do, all it would take is a different name and two different paypal accounts, I even suspect I know a person who is doing this. If you don't live in the US or Canada it's even easier since you don't need to supply IS with any tax information.

I'm pretty sure this goes on all the time. People are pumping up their own accounts with reviews of their own images from different accounts.

Look at how many of the most popular by ratings actually have many downloads... very very few.

fotografer

Looking at my portfolio ratings seem to have very little or nothing to do with position in search.

zorki

I beg to differ. I had a picture that came up when you did a search on the word "vineyard" on the first row or two. Sold hundreds of copies that image until they changed the search engine about a year ago. Since that, I've probably had 5 downloads in a year, so position on best match searches is very important.

BTW, none of you can tell with absolute certainty that ratings have no effect on best match searches...

fotografer

Nobody is saying that position in best match search isn't important just that reviews make none or very littly difference to what the position is.
My best rated photos don't do well in the searches generally but I have a lot of images that show on the first page of searches with none or very few reviews.

we have about 5 emails attached to our paypal?

souper

but that being said what would be the point of having 2 accounts.... sort of self defeating and a big pain.....

just for the sake of logging in under a different name, you can't use your keychain.... and so on.
