Warning: don't get your photos legitimately purchased by a popular site.

I'm constantly chasing abuses of two of my more popular images from sites like pinterest, weheartit, tumblr  and now one I didn't know about called www.hubpages.com most of which are credited to that popular site that I assume bought legitimate licenses. There are loads and loads of images there, from all over the place, most of which I guess will be stolen.

Added: some of the pages seem to use photos by the person writing the article, story or poem, at least one I clicked on had taken wikimedia commons pics, which is fine, but others have taken pics from all over the web, apparently thinking that crediting the site they took them from makes it OK.

I've discovered one page with pics from a variety of micros, but also available from other sites (probably legitimate buyers) and another page with photos lifted from National Geographic.

So I'll soon find out how well hubpages respond to DMCAs send by their own instructions. They don't have a form like pinterest, but they do tell you what wording they require to be used in the DMCA email.

At least she's made an effort to explain the conditions of use for each of the sites she reviews, so she's aware of some of the issues, which is more than most people are, IME.

the ball will keep rolling and becoming bigger and bigger !

user generated content must be BANNED or at least pre-screened and moderated.
every photo must carry a licence or a written permission or being CC or PD.

either that or anybody will be always free to upload the F they want and when storage and bandwidth will be even cheaper they will move to upload entire instead of just embedding youtube videos.

the whole internet is now a dump for piracy.

Or in his case, sharing them freely with other hub users, with attribution. It might be that that could lead to some sales, who knows. I'd expect that it would just disseminate them more and more for easier picking off, but that's just me.

Added: I just got an email to tell me the pic had been removed and the hubber informed.

I have a HubPages account. I can't say it is really any different than anywhere else on the web. Some people are doing things right and some people are doing it wrong.
