Like we need more cut down trees for our sad little over consuming lives. Either we cut trees down or we literally make keyboards out of oil.

What really would be eco-friendly :  a keyboard (or anything else elelectronic) that can be repaired when it breaks down (or when I spill my entire glass of apple-juice on it).

Bamboo is a grass not a tree.  It can grow 4 feet in a single day, it doesn't need to be replanted when cut down (the roots are kept in tact) and takes 4 years to reach maturity while wood takes 20-100 years.

And if you aren't really carefull, bamboos will quickly fill your garden. And next door's too.

The wooden keyboard looks horrible anyway, imo.

I just look at the image and thought the idea was absurd. I should read the whole thing.

So true!  Making everything virtually disposable is the most environmentally hostile thing civilization has done.  Aren't landfills pretty much overflowing with old electronics, computers, etc.?

Kuh! All these 'throw away' consumable items nowadays. Keyboards and mice should be carved from 3.5 billion-year-old granite hewn from the mountains of the Scottish highlands for proper sustainability. They'd be good for at least another couple of billion years.

Just knitting my own yoghurt for tomorrow's breakfast while I think about this some more.

I love it!

Bamboo is a very renewable resource,  easily disposed of.   Let's hope we see it replacing plastic wherever possible.

Joke--

Teacher:  Johnny, why weren't you able to get your homework finished last night?

Johnny: Because my pet panda ate my keyboard and my mouse.
