FTP will error out and this is on the site.

File uploading has been temporarity disabled to allow us to reduce the number of files waiting review in the Approval Queue. Thank you for your patience, uploads will resume at the date shown above

yes it had been announced before hand by BS I think this is what StockXpert should have done as well instead of having a huge pending que and many complains over rejections.

Anybody have an update? No mention of it on the forum since it was discussed that they might do it. Site still says it will resume at 8am CST.

As of 10est, they are back on line. Thanks BigStock

I don't know about uploading, but I got a notice this morning that all of my uploads in their approval backlog had been processed and accepted.  So it looks like their strategy has had some effect.

I can login via FTP and I don't see any message on the site.... are they blocking us again or is it just me?  ???

dbvirago

I haven't been able to ftp the past couple of days. The online upload works fine. don't know about this weekend.

They jumped out early this weekend. Sometime between my ftp batch and going in to categorize, they shut it down for the weekend. Back open Monday a.m.

Uploading has been disabled EVERY Weekend since I joined back in September :(
My work around is to prepare images and set them aside to post on Monday's once the Queue is opened back up. Combined with their long approval times 7-10days ... I don't see how this site can ever make it with the big guys unless the solve these issues ...

It seems like a pointless exercise, surely people just upload in 5 days what they would have in 7. How does this reduce the overall approval time or queue. They also put more load on their systems during the selling week rather than at the quieter weekend ....

There was an announcement on their website regarding hiring new reviewers, which they obviously had to do.  Hopefully that eventually negates the need to close down uploads on the weekend.

That's kinda bad news: in my experience, new reviewers = increased rejections.

BigStock is a third-tier site, and I don't really mind not being able to upload there for two days of the week, and my income isn't affected at all by waiting a few extra days for my images to be reviewed. On top of that, I find BigStock to be extremely accomodating and consistant in their reviews. I hope that doesn't change.

My thoughts exactly. Monday afternoon, I upload everything I couldn't starting Friday afternoon when they shut it down.

Hey Mark, I just clicked through to BS.  Nice work.  Nice mix of photos and Illustrations too.  I really like the polar bear and cub, and the hot blond on white.  I bet they get you a few sales.

mwp1969

Pixart .... hmmmmm I would love to take credit for those but they're not mine :(  I wonder what's going on with the link? I'll need to look into it ...

When I get it fixed please check it out once again :)

Pixart,

I got it fixed I believe ... could you (or anyone else) click through on the BigStock Icon and let me know if you see my images and not someone elses? Mine should have "Salmon Colored Driftwood" in it ...

Thanks

Mark

LOL, isn't that funny!  There's yours!  Good stuff too.  My fave is Whiteout... looks a lot like Manitoba right now.

mwp1969

Thanks. You can't see it in "Whiteout" but you should be able to see the outline of a large house across the street. He was walking down the center of one street crossing through the interection. My vantage point was "catty-corner" to that house with him in the center of the intersection. It looks like the North Pole or antarctica, but no ... just Castle Rock Colorado (around 6000 feet elevation) after the first of 3 blizzards in 10 days. It was a record setting 10days ...
