I have posted editorial images following the guideline given in shutterbuzz. I still got rejected. This time they have asked sth different.

Pls. put full date/year & location [CITY, STATE/COUNTRY - MONTH DAY: Factual description of the image content on [month day, year] in [location]. Qualifying newsworthy second sentence (if necessary).

They need me to put month day, year in the factual description.

Yeah that's the way it is and has been for quite some time.

So what is your description?

JPSDK

Do it like this:

COPENHAGEN - DEC 7: Opening Day, meeting at "G77 and China", delegates in the Bella Center at the UN Climate Change Conference on December 7, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Thanks. Will try this

If you search for a editorial photo approved recently and modify their caption.

BTW whats the latest on the credential's saga ?

What about a public sporting event shot from public area. i.e. no entry fee. Things like road running races, ocean motor boat racing, surfing competitions ?

It gets harder and harder doesn't it? My understanding, based upon the answers I get from the admins, is that you don't need the email or credentials for a NON-TICKETED event held on public property. They gave me a little blurb to include for the reviewer so he/she wouldn't make a mistake. Sheesh!

Would you be able to share "the mistake preventing blurb"

If it is the same as my blurbs are they are all different, I have a case number to give the reviewer for whatever event I shoot.

Just write to SS ahead of time and get the answer back with a case number so you dont run into any problems.

i've got 10 editorial in the queue at SS. seriously, between the different requirements of iS, DT and SS i find editorial to be a bit of a PITA. unless it was Wills and Kate I'm thinking it's not worth it?

Editorial is dead at SS now. Lawyers, repeat releases, waiting and restrictions have killed it. Any chance of getting a news photo accepted in time to be newsworthy is past. You need proof of right to shoot which is given at the event. Must send for preapproval to [email protected] before uploading, get a case number, then upload and wait.

Credentials Policy for Editorial (events) submissions.

Please follow the instructions below. This should be done for every event. This is simply an added layer of assurance for us as well as for yourself that you are allowed to license the content appropriately.

Images submitted for editorial use that have been taken of the following require proof of credentials before they will be accepted:
● Sporting events (including those taken at noncollegiate schools or recreational, nonprofessional events)
● Concerts
● Festivals
● Trade shows
● Theatrical performances (including those taken at school performances/theater)
● Conventions
● Openings
● Ticketed events

Credential requirements: Images shot at any event requiring credentials will only be accepted if the submission is accompanied with either of the following documents proving photographer credentials:

I. An event badge (a sticker will not suffice) that indicates your authorization to shoot the event and includes the following information:
1. the name of the event;
2. the date of the event; and
3. your name (if possible)

OR

II. Correspondence (e.g., email chain, letter) with the venue, performer's management, or other authorized representative of the event having the authority to grant you credentials to shoot the
event. Such correspondence must include the following information:
1. the name of the event;
2. the date of the event (if not, then the date of the email);
3. your name;
4. the authorized representative's name and company; and
5. the email must be sent from the representative's company email account.
Please note that we will evaluate credentials on a case by case basis.

SS doesn't want any new editorial they are making it impossible and a waste of time. All this for a sub DL of some low sale photo. Waste of time. Editorial is not going to be a best seller most times rare news photo maybe, but it will be two weeks old news before SS will get it approved.

SS is intentionally killing editorial. SS is becoming IS with the limits and restrictions and unfriendly submit system.
Take your content and go. - Jon Oringer.
