I have seen a few other people include blogs on their site - are there SEO benefits in commenting on each other's pictures and blogs?

Usually when I see a picture I would like to comment on there is no comment box

Yes there are great benefits... but people do not like how comments look at this time

Ron

I disabled comments on images as I didnt want to deal with all the spam and whatever dissing it might bring. Dissing from NON SY people of course is what I mean  ;)

Same here. But I do allow comments on the blog page I put up. But a) I enabled Akismet to catch the spam and b) I think we have the capability of approving comments, don't we? So if someone got too out of line, we could nix it. I could be wrong about that tho.

You are right. I deleted askimet because I had to pay for protection, is that not the case? Is that a free tool? Not sure why it asked me to pay for protection.

To answer the Original question... yes there are many benefits to blogging and commenting on and about images.

Google loves this stuff.

If there is an image, in the SY network and they don't allow comments, then create your own blog post, place your comment there and link to the image.

If you like something that someone wrote, and you write about it ( and link) in your blog then that helps both parties.

So blog, link, comment away, we all win.

As for comments on images, I have it enabled ( I think) for most of my images... but no spam ( so far)... I have comments set to moderation... I am told about them, but they don't appear until I OK them.

BTW mylazy photographer blog is located at:http://glennspecht.com/wp/category/s10-blogs/c59-lazy-photographer-photo-blog/] http://glennspecht.com/wp/category/s10-blogs/c59-lazy-photographer-photo-blog/       8) :D

I dont pay for akismet. I just had to register and get a key, but i have had it for a couple of years. I dont think you have to pay.

Quite often customers leave questions on your images as well regarding how they can use them. It gives you a chance to interact and be friendly, plus the interest / content is gauged by search engines and gives you bonuses.

So far I have comments enabled and get a few spammers a day, think I might start requiring registration first,

I have left a message on cathys and will try and do a few more today

Akismet is free for non-commercial use
