I had similar results for "Tomato confit in the market of Les Halles"  - my symbio site came up #2 after my same image at 123;  searching thru google images gave same results as on the regular google pages - my images took most of the top 2 rows

but not sure where google's getting these -- search for 'moose walking condos' brings my sumgmug site up in #2 position, but my images shown in the first 2 rows are those hosted by various stock agencies, not my smugmug site

I've submitted image sitemaps, but most images don't get indexed nearly as often.  I mentioned this in another thread & it's something i'm trying to follwup on

I really must congratulate Leo for his sterling work in SEO - both in the approach and his advice for getting best results in our descriptions and titles etc.  I saw in my stats that I had a search query for USA Flag Candles  - low and behold, I am number 1 for that pretty generic search. There must be hundreds of sites selling such candles with a lot more history than me, and here I am at the top of the search page.

Fantastic Job Leo!!!

Thanks! I'm hoping to refine it even more too.

My results on Google Image search results are getting better each day.

I experimented with uploading modified versions of my existing stock artwork to my Symbio site and I have already seen some great results.

As you can see below, the same file that has been indexed at 123RF for a while, now also appears at my Symbio site after a few revisions.

One of my "isolated dobermann" pictures is now 4th to show up on google images - now all I need is some sales :)

I would however like to know who did a search for " Sheep eating a dead rat" on google.  I do have something eating a dead rat but it certainly was not a sheep.

Has anyone else noticed searches including "copyright free" "no copyright" etc?

Tinny, sorry about my ignorance, but how to verify this search terms/phrases? Via Cpanel?

In the Jetpack that comes with Wordpress (you have to activate it) there is an option entitled Wordpress.com Stats - I use that to see what people are searching for on my site.  Some countries block listing the actual search terms but with others it shows.

I just noticed that Google has some of my photos with the wrong link.  It goes to my web site but to the wrong image.

Attached is a screen shot.  The picture is definitely not a Brown Leaf.  Also the link seems to change each time you search for the image.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have Similar or Featured widgets on your image pages? The spiders can index an image on a page where it's a thumbnail, not the main item.

quailrunphoto

Yes, I do have a Similar widget.  Didn't think about the relationship to SEO.

Thanks for the advise.

You will also get your pictures come up  other network members sites which can be confusing as well at first

Did anyone have an answer to why google and google images see the results differently? Many of my indexed photos are on page 1 and 2 for a normal search, but dont show up on google images. Just wondering?

djpadavona

Google is indexing the HTML page, whereas Google Images is indexing the image and linking it to the HTML page.
