68% indexed at this point... nice going. Almost there.

Where are you at?

Thats cool. I have two image site maps, Yoast and SYS, SYS is at 68%, Yoast is at 45%

Anita Potter

Of my images only 28 of 550 have been indexed.  At least it's almost done indexing the site urls so maybe my images will start getting indexed more this week.

Course I also don't get the search query stats because I can't find my stuff going by what their stats say.

Ron

I dont think site URLs have anything to do with that low number. Must be something else.

For some reason, site URLs get indexed much faster than images.

This is where I stand at present but only added the image sitemap on Aug 5.  Getting images indexed in drips and drabs.  I'm impatient right now because things are just getting started but I've got a lot more images to add so I'll just worry about that for the time being  ;D

it's easier to get urls indexed than it is images

with 3400 images I have 74% indexed with symbio sitemap, and 58% with yoast, after starting around 25% for both at start of july

Steve, did you submit both Leo's SYS sitemap and also Yoast's? Is there a reason for submitting both?

jsfoto

As far as I understood Leo's plugin is focused on the images while Yoast covers the entire website.

My images are indexed almost completely while still two thirds of the urls are missing

My indexing is not going so well for the pages, but the images are slow but coming along.  Not sure if I need to resubmit the site index again to change that.

Any suggestions?

If I change the watermark would it impact my images that have already been indexed?
I want to have both white and black letters in my watermark

Good question! I'm aiming at the same thing and hope I can 1) figure out how to get both B&W into my wm, and 2) figure out how to reprocess once I've figured out #1.  :-[

I'll probably try the wm re-creation and reprocessing before submitting my sitemaps. Now that (hooray!!!) I'm almost done Yoasting my original 700 uploaded images. From this point on, it should all go more smoothly.

yes I submitted both -- yoast has some additional listings for categories, etc

Thanks for that info. I didn't know...  There's sooo much to learn!

OK, so for people who have a lot of images indexed... how are the sales?

I've asked before, but is the work paying off yet?  Is the indexing leading to actual traffic?

I've been told that it requires patience... you have to wait for Google to get you properly indexed before the traffic and sales start flowing.  Anyone seeing signs that this is happening?

Yes

I see a lot of search queries for my content. I had 3 sales so far, and I am at 68% indexed. It does need patience. But I am more confident then ever. Basically because I would never have dreamed that anyone at any time would ever buy a photo from my own website just by searching Google. And it happens. I have made 37.50 euro (50 dollar) in 3 sales, in 2 months. Its not much, but the potential is there. I might even be on par with people submitting to Stocksy.

I have not seen any more sales except for the one a few weeks ago. But i still have less than 600 images online. It used to be on the agencies that you needed more than 500 to see sales pick up but it seems like it has to be 1000 nowadays. So i would expect at least the same to be true here.

I think the people seeing the most sales with SY are the ones with network-wide connections and links, and ones with quantities of images in the thousands. But they dont seem to be willing to share numbers publicly, so my speculation is based on past comments made here or there.

My solution for getting my watermark to show on dark and light images was to include a grey drop shadow. It seems to work ok for most of the images.

Hmm... I'm starting to become intrigued.  $100 a month is about at the level this starts getting my attention, and it looks like you're heading in that direction.  If I could spend a few days building a site and throw all my images up on it, and let it generate $100 a month without too much extra work (or expense*) I could be swayed.

Anyone else seeing results like this yet?

* As for expenses, how are you storing/serving your images?  At $25/month are you profitable?

I think I remember you mentioned that before. I'm going to give it a try and see if I can do that kind of design in Photoshop.

Thanks for the tip!

I ended up using a transparent watermark. By using bevel/emboss and drop shadow effects I was able to get something that worked for both dark and light backgrounds. At least it works for me.
