As I'm not an English native speaker (you might have realized it already  ) I thought it might be a good idea to open this thread. Our network is growing fast and many of us are not English native speakers but would like to have a site that does look professional ... including the English texts. So this is where native speakers could jump in, giving some help and hints.

So here is my first question:

Simple, reasonable pricing ... starting from 4 $

I think everybody can understand it, but is it correct and does it sound good in English?

BTW ... if a native speaker does find anything on my site that sounds strange or is just wrong, please let me know.

Although you say four dollars when you speak, it is normally written as $4

Yes exactly ... in this case I just didn't know whether you better say starting with, starting at or sarting from ... I didn't even think about $4 oder 4$. Thanks for that

I would say starting at.

Thanks Christin and Cathy. Perhaps we can keep this thread up ... sure the non native speakers will profit, but also the network, when the texts sound professional.

You can say either starting at or starting from.  I prefer starting from.

as an TEFL ( Teach English as a Foreign Language) teacher, I will add my 2 cents here.

both from and at are correct, but they have slightly different meanings and not really worth worrying about.

I'm living I live in the South of Germany, working as photographer since for almost 20 years.

I would probably say "I live in Southern Germany and have worked as a photographer for almost 20 years". I'm not sure if Southern Germany would be confusing to someone who knows Germany well, but I say I live in Western Washington, not the West of Washington.

Just to confuse that last bit even more , I live in the south east of England. Perhaps it depends where you live how it is referred to?

A minor point (pun intended) but most of the World would write ein hundert tausend as 100,000 or 100 000 rather than the Continental 100.000

also a reminder that when entering prices you need to enter 15.00 rather than 15,00 even for euros and other currencies -- I've noticed a couple of people who ended up with huge prices this way and have sent PM when I see them, but may miss some
