At long last I've had all my review images accepted by SS.
I can now look forward to being an active contributor to ss as well as is and ds.
It turns out the last review failure was down to a software glitch at their end.

Just remember, IS has different standards then SS. And SS is picky on lighting, and wants to see saturated colors. If you want to built a portfolio and get sales, its good to learn what each agency wants to see. Hard shadows (uneven lighting) for example wont work on SS.

Well said.  People complain about SS reviewing being inconsistent, but they are very consistent about shadows.  Put a shadow in an image and it's going to get rejected.

And don't even think about shallow DOF or selective focus.

Say What?

Shadows will pass at SS as will shallow DOF images.

Just has to be done properly.

Not true!

Its funny, these were just accepted on SS with using selective focus in the rule of thirds, and I used direct light to create some sort of depth in the bokeh with shadows

Nice and simple photos.
Btw, on Your first photo is light from right, not direct.
Small change in light angle and VOILA, SS reviewing program accept it.

I've done okay there with shallow DOF including these recently uploaded images.

its right, Shutterstock accepts shallow dof.

and they also like an unnaturally deep DOF from a stack.

It needs to be done right
