 Guys, as newbie in SS yesterday my new uploads about building and cityscape  were rejected, they said"We do not accept images of modern architecture or images where the architecture is the main focus." But i took the scenery with several buildings, not focus on just one building. Any opinion or same experience? please give me some suggestion.Does it mean SS no more accept modern building image?

Hard to say without the image

Rinderart

I stay away from those subjects as it's a hit or miss situation. Not all reviewers are on the same page.

Phadrea

Same building 2 shots accepted. 1 shot some time later of same building, slightly wider angle rejected as needs building release.

Merlion statue is copyright protected.

Interesting fotoVoyager, and probably seen as the main subject, not just a cityscape.

On the other hand...  ::)

It all really depends on how strong the building owner feels about protecting their building, and if the agencies are aware of that. Sears Tower in Chicago is also protected however, skyline shots of Chicago including the building are accepted. I would say your image is fine as it is a skyline and not a single building is subject of the image. However, Eiffel Tower in Paris at night, when the lights are on, is also trademark protected for concerning night shots. So it might be something we do not know that is showing in your image. Best, and only way really, to get your answer is just email [email protected] and they will tell you exactly what is the matter.

You are looking at a photo taken of his monitor, not the actual photo. As for the people, that is allowed as not one of the persons is subject of the image. Check out the Shutterstock library, there are thousands and thousands of images, non editorial, with people in the shot, just as long as they are not recognisable or in crowds.

All good and valid comments; but none address the initial post question. ("We do not accept images of modern architecture or images where the architecture is the main focus.")
I too have submitted several "building only" photos with no people in the past; accepted as Editorial.
But I had one rejected for exactly that reason last week, and I thought "hmmm...that's a new one". I've never seen that reason before, and my thought was that SS has changed its policy. Your post gives more credence to my suspicion, so I'm going with it.

BTW, I live in a small city, and the building photos I submit are mostly because I know they'll be purchased locally. (They were of our public library and Federal Courthouse; both had received awards for their architecture and are well known in my area. No problem with FT or BS. Don't know about DT, because they are taking sooooooo long to review photos - currently a little over a week.
With SS, I get rejected within 2 days.  ; )
