Does anyone here design apps?  I wish we had an app for keywording and tagging our images, does anyone here or know of anyone who can design one? Or is there anything out there on the market already?

It would be great if we had an app that can store data such as Author, Copyright Notice, Title, Description, and also keep a record of often used keywords under specific Category headings, and then can be easily applied to our images.

I know it is stored in PS or similar - but its still time consuming. I often use the same keywords for similar subjects and keep a separate word document for those. For example, we can then have a category called Christmas, and store all our generic keywords such as: festive, happy holidays, 25 December, etc. Or another for children, or finance, or whatever we often shoot. User defined of course.

I wouldn't then feel chained to my computer all day, and could sit there quietly at night doing my keywording on my iPad while my family watches TV.

How would you get all the high res images onto your phone or tablet? It seems like it would have to be cloud based. I guess you could just remote into your computer. Do they make remote desktop stuff for tablets? Just thinking out loud...

Windows 8 has apps now - although that would defeat the purpose of mobility, unless I use a laptop - but it would be faster.  I store all my generic often-used keywords in a separate word document, and I have quite a few categories now - and its starting to take longer to scroll through looking for the right set.

Maybe I should design an access database to store them, but not sure how easy it would be to access them. Anyone with any other ideas?

Oh, and spell check too would be an important feature.

Thank you so much - I would like to try that. But I have Adobe CS6 creative suite and Lightroom is not included in that - apparently it is a stand-alone product, and I don't want to have to spend another $100 -$200 on more software.

Is there anything else in CS6 that has the ability to store categories of keywords?

use an excel worksheet -- enter the tags for 1 image, then copy to any similar image & edit as needed.  no need for an app

For the other suggestion re Excel - I have already entered them into Word, so yesterday I gave them headings and a table of contents - so now just have to click on the hyperlink to find the ones I need. But I am sure excel would work too. I like Word because of the spell check, and Shutterstock is very fussy about spelling.

what's wrong with young people ?

mobiles and tablets are NOT professional tools designed to get any job done.
i can understand the millennials are literally glued to their phones nowadays, even when sleeping or taking a sh ... but it doesnt mean they can be any useful for production and especially for anything involving keywording and captioning as it would take 10 times longer than on a desktop !

sure, you will find mobile versions of photoshop, ms office, and even music sequencers like Ableton Live, but they're just toys.

matter of fact, playing with Instagram and similar cr-apps is probably the most you can get from a mobile nowadays and it's not gonna change anytime soon, quite the opposite the trend on mobiles now is about using images and emoticons instead of writing text !

I don't consider myself a "young person" but I spend a lot of hours sitting at hockey practice or in the waiting room at dance or school assemblies etc.  So many hours of the week.... If I could be productive while I wait!   I can sometimes submit files from home and remotely tag model releases and push them through.  Unless you have a wifi password, bringing a laptop isn't much use, and a lot of hockey arenas are dead so an ap that requires connection wouldn't work.  I don't think anyone can seriously expect to retouch photos on their iphone, but why not keyword?

At home I have a network and put aside certain types of work so I can sit in front of the tv and do mindeless tasks on my laptop.  (Not enough hours in the day!) But to me EVERYTHING takes twice the effort if I am not sitting at my desk on my desktop. 

I can't type properly to save my life on my phone, so for me keywording at the hockey rink would not be a good idea.

I am thinking of full mobile workflow: shoot mobile, edit mobile, submit mobile. Yes, you might complain about the smartphone camera, no manual controls, poor quality and so on. But this is changing nowadays! Yuri Arcurs like pictures are now going down in demand while the market for candid, genuine, daily life pictures is rising. Is time for spontaneous shots, for shots integrated in our life. This is how marketers get to the heart of consumers. And here, smartphones will play a big role. It might be early for an app like Pixendr but the future might be more mobile that you may think. Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am not.
