This looks like a very simple business plan - "let's screw our suppliers and take all the money for ourselves".
Thats been their business plan for 4-5 years now.  Just accellerating as they get more desperate.  The water is starting to simmer.  Us frogs will be boiling by January 2016, methinks.

Very simple business plan - squeeze as much juice as they can from the lemon... whilst they can.

Where is our fearless low royalty crusader?

Probably refreshing Shutterstock subscription and credit plans page to see if anything has changed.

I don't think I have anything to add to this topic, it's all been said already.
Just my opinion.

But how many hours/days will it be before you sound another false alarm about SS to distract from the continuing bad news at iS? Not many, I'd wager.

7% is outrageous, I'm glad I quit uploading there a long time ago.

This scam might bring them some extra cash in the short term but it will mean the end of getty in short-medium term. The genius that came with the idea might get a cash bonus by the end of the year. He better keep it because soon he is going to be looking for a job

ROFL ;D

Fairplay

Every time when I recieve such "exciting" news from IS, the first thing that comes to my mind is this quote from Rebecca Rockafellar on IS forum:
"... We get it, you guys are mad. And reading the forums for the past year has made it clear that some of you think we are lazy, incompetent, greedy or uncaring..."

I don't buy images from IS anymore! I hope many other contributors do the same!

I also stopped shopping there for my clients when RC came in. I wonder how much custom they lost this way?

While the total number of subs from iStock has remained more or less the same (for me), I am seeing the portion of PP subs declining while the portion of iStock subs is on the rise. This would mean less revenue from subs also, as iStock subs give me 28c all the time, while PP subs sometimes go well beyond 28c if the customer had bought some different image pack.

Unless iStock tells us that iStock subs also may pay us more than 28c (depending on the subscription pack bought), we should see a decline in the subs revenue also. Even if iStock did this, the revenue decline will be seen since more subs and less credit-sales seem to be the future.

iStock subs prices are lower then Thinkstock subs prices.
Getty is eating its own market and in so doing, hoping to get a bigger share of it.

Eventually they will kill close Thinkstock.

I haven't sent them anything new in months.  This is the last straw for me. I just deactivated 50 of my best and will remove more each day until they are only left with very old/less popular files.  I'm sure they couldn't care less, but it makes me feel better.  My message to them on "reason for deactivating"....

New $40 "subs" package = 7% commission. As if 16% wasn't insulting enough. No Thanks.
Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

When they keep devaluing our work, it certainly does not give me any incentive to give them my best images.

You mean we aren't happy getting paid .28c for partner program or subscription gross royalties, and no more then that ever for most non-exclusive with the RC levels up and the sales down? Is that devalued, insulting or both?
