Yep, I'm long enough in the tooth to know that sales go up and sales go down etc - been around over 5 years. The last year, despite uploading, sales have been constant at best.
BUT 2 weeks ago out of the blue a BWE. Seriously! Followed last week by results barely beating Christmas 2015 and 2014, and otherwise the worst week for years.
Truly bizarre.....erratic in the extreme....

 been seeing this for a few months now

Without sod sales, I would be making hundreds less per month. On demands are way down and in most cases i get skunked. Video sales are slower, but image sales have been impacted more in the last 2-3 months.  Probably a combo of a lot of variables, but search might be one. This particular situations happened fast, not a time phased thing. Still like that today. I make $100 one day and $9 the next. My average is $40 a day.

I am vector artist and sales down.. down... and down..every month but a work harder and harder and harder. In vector category too many   artist who is making just one icon in one picture (spam), and from one icon making 100-1000 picture just change background color. New acceptable images (in vector) from 1000 images, just 10-20 of quality design.
And this is the point. Nobody search images by new category, because it can not find quality images.
Another agancy where not accept this (just icon) pictures and other "spams", my earnings go up..

WAAAAY down, have to go back YEARS to find anything comparable. And for me, Christmas is always dire.

I think that start of summer, Copa America, Euro 2016 have impact on sales.

Really? I've never heard anyone saying the week, or fortnight, around Christmas/New Year as being anything but dire, which I'd expect. That's not the same as saying someone's Christmas port might perform very well for them.

Really? I've never heard anyone saying the week, or fortnight, around Christmas/New Year as being anything but dire, which I'd expect. That's not the same as saying someone's Christmas port might perform very well for them.

Maybe imaginable ..those designers who have 50%-70% of christmas theme pictures from his portfolio.

I forgot about Copa America, could be it has some sort of impact on my downloads as most of my sales come from Central America.. downloads are more than 50% down for me since Friday (not that I was making fortune before that, but anyway )

World soccer cup in 2014 was terrible for sales.

I respectfully disagree that decline in sales is due to sporting events, I did fine in 2014 and I have no sports photos for the most part. I believe the problem in sales is due to one of a few possibilities, SS has changed their search algorithm, SS has been flooded with so many photos watering down all the full timers, possible market share decline, global recession, possible under reporting of sales to contributors, artificial capping of contributors to divide up sales to new comers, or all the above. Thats all I can come up with!

Who really knows?

Well I do hope the site outages was the problem but I fear that is not the reason. Increase in images I am sure is a contributing factor, not sure how to keep up with that game. I am a full timer in stock and already feel like I am working in a Sweat Shop with declining wages!

Today is just weird. 2 sales so far!!! Can't remember last time.....

actually World Cup ,etc have a good influence on sales, because happy people spend more money.
When you go in to work after a night of ale , football, women (men), etc.. you are more likely
to spend more of your company's money to download more photos.
at least, that's the way the waitresses tell me (tips get better during sporting event season).


of course, if your country loses the game, then, expect no dls from that country.
eg. esp if your top buyer is from Brazil. when Brazil loses a match, the whole country is out to lynch the coach. So, definitely no downloads from Brazil clientele as well, for sure.
in fact, during Copa Mundo, no one works in Brazil. so maybe it does affect downloads
for those who get lots of dl from Brazil.

that's it... no dls from brazil for a while (country in mourning, and coach is definitely facing a nation-wide lynch-mob. businesses all employees incl photo buyer laid-off)
