A whole blog entry dedicated to how to get lens flare:

Then they reject photos because of lens flare. I have to wonder what the point of the article is.

They need to teach Bot first what flare is ...

Definitely weird that they would have an article on how to generate something that will surely cause rejection.  I've submitted a couple images that I thought had "creative" lens flare in the past and even mentioned it in the title to let the reviewer know it was deliberate and they always got rejected at SS for lighting, even though they were accepted and sold OK at several other agencies.

Nothing surprises me about that outfit the boss thinks there's nothing wrong, the reviewers don't apply their own rules and the website is busted

But hey they got the Empire State lit up in red and white when they got to  100million images! WOO WOOP YAY lalalalalalala  ::)

That article applied mostly to video, not photos. Just saying...

For all time they accepted only few images with effects from me. I didn't like the type of images exactly which they accepted usually. I noticed that "practice" with only one type of images affects my work with clients and i found other ways to sell images and other images. Feeling myself more free. About effects usage - with ss i had always feeling that they defined a "niche" for everybody and attempt to do something different only creates rejections.

No lens flare, no minimal shadows, no short DOF... one sesion with one top model outdoors is garbage for Shutterstock
