http://microstockpix.com/supplies/  I'm not really a "Know It All", but I play one in this forum I SUCK really really bad on iStock, my user name is vacuum

leaf

it looks like one of many hundred microstock template sites.

I had seen this one before, but as it's a subscription site only, I am afraid the earning is very low.  Have they told you how much they pay?

Hi guys!

I got an email from them as well. They will give you a 1 time fee of $5 for each image they choose. That's it. No royalties. In my case they wanted roughly 200 images so that would mean an upfront payment of $1000.

I haven't decided what to do because most of the images they want make me A LOT more than $5/year on the big 5.

It's also an ethical question as to all the $$$ this company will be doing with my images for years to come (if they last that long) and me getting nothing but a measly $5.

What are your thoughts on this?

Can you send them any 200 photos or have they asked for specific ones?

Could be good for the reject pile, last chance option??

phildate

They will want specific photos but they will not require an exclusive license. However, if you sell to AV you have no way of removing from their site. If you are ever comtemplating going exclusive at one agency then this will prove a large stumbling block.

I don't think I would ever sell the rights to  my images

Dreamstime does this as well, but offers a better rate.

You're not selling the rights to the images. This is a non exclusive site just like the other ones. Only difference is you get an upfront fee of $5 per image.. that's it. Nothing more.

kacper

Heh... $5 an image eh? I'd be willing to send them all the stock I have that's sold less than $5 in the last two years.

They actually choose the images they want... unfortunately....  ;)

How? Do they scan your folio elsewhere?

If that's the case then I suppose they can KMA

kosmikkreeper

In my case, they went through my SS portfolio and sent me their choices...

leaf

well i guess you are right that you aren't selling them the rights... but you are selling them the right to sell the images for all time..
I earn on average between $5-$10 / year on my images.  If an image has a life span between 5 years for people pics and 10 or more for objects such as a candle or knife, then I would be cutting my self short selling the images for just $5.00

dbvirago

Hmmmm. Send us your best selling shots and we'll give you $5. Yup, KMA sums it up.

.shock

AV for me is great, down is link to my AV gallery. Anyone know site like this system of sending, choosing and paying for images?

I haven't even looked at the site and yet I already know it's destiny.

Absolutvision has been around for a long time.

I have worked with them in the past. The oldest part of my portfolio is there.

They will require to view thumbs of your images and then choose they ones they like. They
will not accept any garbage quality images. You just give them the right to sell your images only through their main website and pay you a one time fee of 5$ for it ( you would think that after all these year they would offer more than 5$ :) )

I would only recommend it to those in great need of money right away.

So this place is like the pawn shop, of the stock world.  I'm not sure I want to sell my images short.  The extra cash would be nice, but I don't think it's a good move.  If it was $20 an image I might consider it - but even then, most of my images make me at least that over just 1-2 years time.

jcphoto

If they only paid with Vodka, now that might be worth considering ;D
