"998,592 new stock images added this week" Just saw this on SS site....anyone know if they've topped a million yet? I sometimes think its a miracle I sell anything at all. (Then I look at the quality of whats being uploaded )

Yes they have topped million many a times.
Maximum uploaded content is not useful to buyers, they is always demand for quality and fresh content.

Must have passed  the point where its counter productive 100k quality images better than 100k hidden in a million I would think

One year ago there was a lot of rejections on Shutterstock, a lot without even valid reasons.

Today they accept almost anything.
They reject if you have not a release when it is necessary, that's all.
I remember tha there was a similar situation vith iStock 2 or 3 years ago.

Reaching 200,000,000 is the only thing that seems to matter to Shutterstock now...

It doesn´t seem to matter much. I sell photos every day and videos every week and I still have less than 2000 files overall.

their software does a very good job of providing the customers with what they are looking for.

There is also a very strong demand for "authentic" images, i.e. crappy looking but real life photos, often taken with mobile phones.

By accepting most content, they give the customer the best choice, you don´t have to go to specialized agencies, you can literally stay in the SS for all your needs including editorial.

So 1 million files a week, don´t scare me as long as my sales stay the same.

Of that million at least 1/3rd of that is provided by the top 200 image producers.

They just churn out factory images and graphics or red carpet type images.

So don't worry just keep plugging away.

I can see what you mean but I hope buyers get better search results than when I occasionally look as I get literally dozens of the same pic with barely discernible differences.

The repeat graphics are extraordinary I can't believe that it makes any kind of sense

I blame the Y2K bug nothing made sense after 1999 

Game over! I stopped uploading three months back no point in adding fuel to a fire. With close to one million added a week and most full-time peoples earnings cut in half I mean what chance have you got?? I have close to 5000 files extremely niched and I am removing certain files putting them up as Rf instead. They can jolly well sit there with all their newcomers etc. Game over.

I make 180 (summertime) vector this month with no sales. I pack up my stuff and go away.

And he's uploaded all of them since January of this year. 200,000+ redundant vectors, all approved. Meanwhile, a half dozen of my recent illustrations have been rejected by the reviewer because he/she/it didn't like the way my gradients were rendered, though I've been outputting everything the same way since the dawn of time.

I can still remember when I liked/respected Shutterstock. *Sigh.*

thus, my comment to that old thread you need 40,000 images in your portfolio to make 10k bucks a month .
i would say it is more like 1 million images to make 10 bucks a month LMAO
