Well, this was pretty interesting. 

What a headache.

And everyone got more money than they did. Sad.

They make great points about lawyers. The lawyers will take most of your settlement and you may get something to make you feel a little betterr.. The video title says "We made a copyright thief PAY!" but both the thief and the plaintiffs ended up paying---their lawyers!

Their payoff wasn't worth the hassle, but knowing the infringer had to shell out $60K+ would be satisfying that they're not likely to make that mistake again

If there's anything to be learned it's that a polite first letter that encourages an apology is a good start, and try to firmly negotiate a settlement quickly. Lawyers make everything more expensive and more unpleasant.

and be aware the $60,000 is Australian dollars, which I read was $45,000 US.
