The White House just shared doctored video of the Acosta incident that makes him look more aggressive. 2018 meets 1984.

Quite plausible I think the Whitehouse stating he "laid" hands and used "inappropriate" behavior was complete baloney.  Acosta was pointing up at Trump and she barged into him to get that mic.

If I was American I certainly wouldn't vote Republican, but I also have doubts about the Democratic party. Luckily in the Netherlands we don't have a two-party system, but various political parties to choose from.

In the Netherlands you are ruled by Jean Claude Juncker and his unelected technocrats  :(

In the USA you are ruled by your unelected POTUS. Remember, you don't vote for the President, you elect your Electors.

Just like we Europeans don't vote for the President of the EU, but we elect the EU Parliament which elects the President (who - by the way - has way less power that the POTUS, unfortunately).

This is how democracy works on both sides of the pond.

You skimmed over the details while nit picking electors, we voted popular vote for what the electors are supposed to vote.

We are not ruled by the President in the USA. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others. Legislative, Legal - the Supreme Court and The President. POTUS has much less power than some people imagine and can be overruled by the Legislative or the Legal branches. The President does NOT make laws, Legislative does, of course the President can issue Executive Orders. Which can be ruled illegal or improper by the legal branch.

We are ruled by the three branches of the government.

Just a note: my message was in reply to someone (not you) who said that we Europeans are "ruled by Jean Claude Juncker and his unelected technocrats".

This is clearly untrue, and Juncker has certainly no more power than POTUS.

Mine is not an attack on America. I truly believe that both Europe and America are true democracies. Even when I disagree with electoral results.

Acosta is very rude not just to Trump but Sarah as well, I have no pity for him and I would have ejected him long ago!! If you can not be a responsible reporter then get out, when the president, any president asks you t stop then do it! Acosta is like a 3 year old ask the same questions over and over again.

That is literally his job. Ask until you get an answer.

Being rude is not his job the others seem to get it!!

And Trump isn't rude? Don't you think making fun of a handicapped person in front of reporters, cameras, the world, is rude? Cracks me up, the Trumpeteer logic.

Trump is rude as well!! but Acosta is not great at his job! CNN should have replaced him long ago. People need to be civil and kind to one another and Trump is just as bad. We all need to look at the election map and see a sea of red with some blue pockets in the cities and realize that we all need to get along. Trump is not my idol or hero by any means, man needs to grow up but on some of his policies I do agree, not all but some.

cathyslife

If Trump wants respect then he needs to show it to the press, and he doesn't. What goes around, comes around. POTUS is the ultimate position to be a leader and lead by example, and he should be held to a higher standard, but he acts about as low as you can get. Some of us don't call him our President.

"As of October 2017, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrat, 24% identified as Republican, and 42% as Independent.[3] Additionally, polling showed that 46% are either "Democrats or Democratic leaners" and 39% are either "Republicans or Republican leaners" when Independents are asked 'do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?'"

81% of Americans live in those "blue pockets." Stop kidding yourself with the "sea of red." The majority of Americans are Democrats or lean that way,

cthoman

Honestly, the majority of those White House reporters asked very similar or the same questions. That's how it works though. There are about a half dozen or less pressing questions and they ask them. It is sometimes with different angles on the issues, but nobody is really doing anything special or controversial. Pretty much every news network had their highlight reel from the press conference of the president yelling at them. Seems pretty fair and balanced. :D

Voter suppression continues, I see.  >:(

You believe the lies

Voter suppression laws are very real and very observable. It's hard to tell how much they affect the outcome of any election, but there are definitely targeted laws that affect specific groups of voters.

gerrymandering is just the start of this one.

No No, I was only referring to the "In the USA you are ruled by your unelected POTUS." We aren't ruled by the POTUS, we do in effect vote for him/her = nothing more. I know nothing of Juncker. Now for nit picking, USA is not a democracy it's a Representative Republic. But then again it is run in a democratic fashion and a democracy.

He wasn't rude, he was asking legitimate questions that needed answers. The other reporters ask the same questions. Trump is just biased against CNN anything not fox, and acts like an * to them. Really wouldn't expect that kind of behavior from anyone in public ... let alone the POTUS.

116th Congress, First Session (as of 11/7/2018)
51 Republicans
46 Democrats (2 Independents – Sanders and King)
3 outstanding Senate races
House 115th Congress
235 Republicans
193 Democrats
7 Vacancies

Thanks for pointing out how gerrymandering, voter suppression and other Republican shenanigans lead to a government that represents the minority rather than the majority...even when Democrats win more votes (see Gore; HR Clinton; the current race for governor of Georgia).

dbvirago

Probably going to regret stopping by here, but here goes.

In my lifetime, Democrats have never lost an election. ever. Either they win, in which case, there is apparently no shenanigans or cheating, or they was some variation of cheating or other scandal. But lost? Never happened.

I'm pretty liberal, and I can't even agree with that. There are definitely a lot of shenanigans with voter suppression and gerrymandering, but people still vote the way they vote.

Stop kidding yourself 2010 brought the democrats a loss of 63 House seats, six Senate seats, over 20 governors. Once Trump gets dumped you are just as unpopular as ever. Send your lawyers, local vote manipulation, illegals, faked absentee ballots and dead people casting votes. That's the way the blue states are won.

Who would be spreading rumors pro-Sanders content was being circulated by Russian agents and Trump supporters. Democrats who are trying to get rid of him.
