Hi,

I would like to remove personal data before keywording and uploading it stock sites. Do you guys know any good software for this purposes? And it should be a desktop software, not online-based.

I'm uploading stock photos to AdobeStock and I don't know does it matter but I stopped using Lightroom & PS. Now I'm editing all my photos in Luminar which is pretty good after two weeks learning. In my case I don't want to store the image information about what editor was used to create it so this extra data has to go away.

I'm not sure will they treat me fairly if I upload photos to AS which were edited in their rivals software (Luminar). It's probably nothing but just in case. Still looking for good software that do the trick.

I would not worry about it they only judge on the image quality not which editor you use

for windows:
download EXIFTOOL
put it in a PATH included folder (learn what this means online)
then go into the JPGs directory from the commandline and type:

exiftool -ALL= . -EXT JPG

Simple.

I really can't see them punishing you for using other software, nor can I imagine they would take the time to bother checking the metadata.

They could easily see whatever they want from metadata automatically only if they wanted to. And maybe they do want to, but probably only to track stats. They are interested in making money, and punishing some good sellers because of software would be like shooting themselves in the foot. And pushing all contributors to buy their software in any way would be counterproductive and unethical. So I guess they'll keep it clean.

Well they'll give you a 1 year subscription to the full suite of Creative Cloud if you earn/work hard enough, so I think the incentive to use their software is already there. Whatever software you use to reach that milestone is up to you, but free CC for a year would make anyone jump ship I think.

They care about earning money from your photos, not about the software you used.

Not anyone, because:
1. after 1 year you need to pay, and there are some cheaper solutions, so if you don't want to pay more why would you mess with your workflow only for a year?
2. not everybody switched to Windows 10

So the important thing is that this is just a promotion, not a pressure, and will you use their giveaway or not is completely optional.

There can be many, legitimate, reasons why to remove metadata. For example I delete them before uploading as I always put many additional and personal data concerning shooting and I don't want provide them to agencies paying me pennies. Example:
- exact location, including GPS position
- additional confidential info about model and location
- camera, software
- shooting precise setup (lighting...)
- info about additional staff ( make-up artist, food stylist)
- client info. Yes, sometimes some photos taken during on assigment could be used for stock
- ...

I am wondering why you would put all that info in the metadata, only to turn around and remove it before upload. Wouldn't putting that info in Bridge or Lightroom be a more efficient way?

Of course we're suspicious, haven't you noticed how many crooks there are stealing images and uploading them as their own? Maybe Hansi is suspicious that private data will be downloaded?

The metadata, GPS, shoot information, lighting, and the rest of the confidential information you list, are all stripped out, not stored, customers get none of that. Agencies don't want our phone number, website or contact information distributed to buyers.

Oh nevermind, I just realized that Hansi's first post here was spam for a data removing software, and the next was how much we could make on Pixbay. I'll leave it, but beware of trolls.
