This is FYI for anyone else who is a long-time Fotolia contributor and who, like me, has a four digit account number.

I tried to opt in to the electronic 1099s this morning but got an error that  my number had to be 5 to 10 digits. I've written to support to ask what to do. I'll post here when it's fixed or there's a workaround

That email to me looks like a typical phishing email since it redirects to a third party website. I simply deleted it.

If it's a scam it's the best I've ever seen. "Ariba is the preferred cloud used by Adobe" so I searched and found:  https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/business/integrations/sap-ariba.html  on the Adobe Acrobat site.

I just logged on, and unless they stole the Adobe database, I just got my 2019 1099 and signed up for electronic delivery.

Well I checked, and you have two pluses already?  :)

Adobe customer service confirmed that there's a problem - I think your suspicions may be unfounded. They've referred me to the tax center as support can't fix this.

A suggestion for Mat Hayward to pass on to whoever at Adobe is managing this: I don't see anywhere in my Contributor Account management interface or the "Manage My Adobe ID" interface to access the 1099 opt-in. For people uncomfortable about responding to emails, having the option on the web site somewhere is a method that's always safe.

An out-of-the-blue eMail that directs you to a third party site *and* asks for your SSN to opt out?

No thanks.

Good idea to come from the artist site, on Adobe, not a third party. This is real I got my last year data.

Really bad business practice. Tech company like Adobe could do better than just use a third party to send emails to their contributors with a link that redirects to unknown party website which requires personal sensitive information...Hey Adobe, have you heard of API?

Until it is done properly, I'll let Adobe pay for mailing me 1099-Misc

The email even had a spelling mistake...soooo strange....
"Once you opt in, you will be able to login to the same sight starting January 31, 2021 to view and save you Adobe 1099.   "

That too.

Poorly executed and small wonder people are suspicious.

Hi everyone,

I'm not able to look into this right now as we are currently in the middle of the annual winter shutdown at Adobe. I'll follow up first thing after January 4 and will provide an update here when I have one.

Thank you for your patience,

Mat

I haven't forgotten about this topic; I'm still waiting on an answer from the tax center. Nothing since the automatic reply on Dec 24th:

"We have received your email. We would like to tell you that we will respond within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the email.

Thanks
Adobe Tax team"

I would like to tell them that they missed their target response time :)

Jo Ann Snover

This issue is now moot - the deadline to get an electronic 1099 was Jan 13th - but I thought I'd note by saying I never heard anything from the tax center beyond the automated reply that they'd get back to me in 24-48 hours.

I contacted them a second time on January 11th - same thing; auto reply and then silence.

This group or contractor did a really terrible job here:

The original email was sprinkled with misspellings; the page to opt in didn't work correctly; support for the broken opt-in process was non-existent; a Jan 13 deadline seems very early - perhaps now they're done with 2020 opt in they can start trying to make things work for 2021?

I never got the email and now on February 10, Adobe is the only 1099 I still don't have.

If you didn't opt in for the electronic 1099 form then a paper copy would have been sent via USPS to the address on your current tax form. If that address is no longer valid, or if you have still not received the tax form as per your comment, please email the tax team directly via [email protected].

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Have those people who didn't sign up for the electronic 1099 now received their paper copies? I haven't received mine yet (and no response yet from the Adobe tax team). Just wondering if mine is lost in the mail somewhere.

You should have Steve, I'll double check to confirm they went out and will let you know. Is the home address listed on your tax form current?

Yes, I received my paper copy several weeks ago.

I never received any response from the tax team support questions I emailed to them when I was trying to opt in to electronic delivery - zero for two as it were.

Thanks Mat, yes, my address is correct. I have all the other stock agency tax forms, but not the Adobe one for some reason. I'll definitely sign up for electronic delivery for next year! And thanks, Jo Ann!

Thanks for confirming Jo Ann, I'm sorry for the lack of response. @Steve, shoot me an email and I'll look into this for you offline.
